UGA Verbal Commit Zach Witchett Kicked Off Team

There is a thought that this thing is getting blown out of proportion. Apparently its one of those things that would have been handled in house if he had not put it out there himself. Hopefully he will be back with the team shortly.

Yeah, that is what I am hearing too. Hopefully it will all be cleared up soon and he will be admitted back to the team. I know that USCe was trying their hardest to get Zach to visit last week but he told them "thanks, but no thanks, I am fully committed to UGA".

KJ is 100% correct.. if he hadn't put this on facebook it wouldn't be news, but he was upset with it and did what a bunch of young people do and put it up on facebook.. you gotta love social networking.. lol

Starting early huh, so let me get this straight that's one kid kicked off his football team, and another that left school because of a huge suspension? UGA has the 2011 Fulmer Cup in the bag if this keeps pace!

That really hits home coming from an auburn fan. We all know you guys recruit character first. What does missing out on Rainey do to yalls class?

Even if the kid is going to be reinstated, I wonder if he's really a well balanced kid if he's allowed his emotions to basically say "look at me" whenever he has a problem. That's not smart; but most kids that age are mostly ruled by emotion as opposed to reason.

The problem is is now adays keeping your business off of facebook is the exception and not the norm. These kids will post anything. Even some of the casual conversations they have on each others walls are pretty questionable.

Yeah, I know. I was all prepared to come onto this thread and sound like someone speaking from his high horse and talk about how idiotic kids are and how student athletes are getting worse every year, yadda, yadda, yadda. But then I thought honestly about it for a while in when I did that I had to honestly say that the players in the vast majority of the programs around the country are doing far better than the general student population as it relates to legal issues and idiocy. We are honestly too hard on the kids from opposing programs. Most of these kids stay within the rules, and they also work their azzes off trying to be as good as they can at their sport. They live under a microscope far more than most people will ever have to live under themselves.

I love it when Auburn fans criticize our recruiting standards. This is a school that has a starting qb kicked off another SEC school for theft and a starting cornerback who was suspended from high school for getting on the intercom and saying "I hate white people and I'm going to kill them all" (http://www.wsfa.com/Global/story.asp?S=4454331). Auburn recruits kids from the state of Georgia that UGA won't touch, like Robert Dunn who had to wear an ankle bracelet in high school. The big difference is that when they get into college, Auburn covers up the problems, as they did for Dunn, Blackmon and numerous others, and UGA doesn't.
