Falconsfan567
...Brooks Conrad won for us with his bat during the season is enough to run him out of town because he let mentally lost it defensively the last 2 weeks? And people wonder why Atlanta is generally considered the worst sports city in America! -_- I just don't believe you guys. What about the Grand Slam to beat the Reds? Remember the 1-0 game we won against the Dodgers because Conrad hit a homerun? What about the game we won against the Marlins because Brooks hit a Grand Slam in the 8th inning to cap a major comeback? Oh and btw Conrad wasn't that bad defensively until the last 2 weeks. He had actually made more than a few GREAT defensive plays.
dmite
I don't want him run out of town, but his job on the team isn't safe.

ugadawg
no one wants him ran out of town, and no one is forgetting what he did for the team this year. The fact is they just do not want him on the field as an everyday player. Is is a very solid bench player and pinch hitter and that is all he should be. Dharma Initiative
In all honesty he really only won one game I believe. And he lost two games with errors at third base in the final week of the regular season.

DefenseWinzCliche
Well. Is Boston a bad sports town? Because it's usually considered the best sports town, and they didnt exactly seem cool with Bill Buckner booting that ball."Oh, it's no big deal. It's just a game". If the average Atlanta sports fan is saying that, then it's proof that it's a bad sports town. Not being upset that a paid athlete sharted the bed in such a huge way, in such a huge spot. They should have the right to demand more, but they still need to have some sort of boundary as to how far to take it. FF567 is also correct even with the horribly times errors you can not forget the things Conrad did to help within the season. Everyone knew at the beginning of the season he was a feel good story of the little guy that outworked his talent level. He went out on the field and gave you everything he had and that made him a great bench player, but he was never going to be a star or an everyday player. Injuries forced him into a role he was not suited for and it cost us.
sdogg
Atl is considered a bad sports city, cause so many fans accept being mediocre and losing. Need to raise the standards and expectations a bit.Atl fans cheered Conrad when he was taking BP and fielding practice before the final game. Do you think Philly, NY, Bos or Chi fans would have done that?

Was I upset he messed up such easy plays that I see little leaguers make routinely? Sure! Was I going to make a post such as "get his ******* *** off the team! He sure never see the inside of a Braves uniform again!"? Nope because I didn't forget all the games he helped us win and was a big reason we were even in the playoffs to begin with.your right to an extent. The fans should be pissed off about the errors. dmite
Yeah, he was the 3rd choice for our 2nd baseman (and 3rd baseman). Buckner was Boston's starting 1st baseman for the whole year. That's the difference. Conrad wasn't supposed to be our 3rd baseman or our 2nd baseman.Though I still don't see how I could hate Prado if it happened to him after all his clutch hitting and spectacular plays all year. I can't boo someone that gives it their all every single game and every single play. Edited October 14, 2010 by dmite
