Pacific_Falcon
So in 4+ games so far we have:Blocked punt. Blocked kick. Awful blocking on returns. Inconsistent coverage when punting. Our ST cant do anything right, it hurt us bad in NO, against SF, and now we just gave up 3 pts via a blocked field goal. We have good ST players, this is just unacceptable. The_ATL
Not sure how it's the ST coach's fault that the line won't hold up.
Pacific_Falcon
Im not talking about one play here, and who runs PAT and kick punt coverage/returns if not the ST coach? We barely jst reurned that kick to the

Pacific_Falcon
Yes, but when they consistently screw everything up, it comes down to coaching. When the players are screwing the pooch, its the coach's job to rectify it. So far they've been bad every game this season.
M0D3RNW4RRIOR
I think I could do a better job at being the ST coach than our current ST coach. Even if his schemes suck, he should make a statement. Bench people when they preform bad, give the spot to a player who is willing to put 110% effort. I'll tell you this, if you have a player who is a natural athlete but may not be a superstar, and has that Ray Lewis mentality where he will doing anything to make a play. That can be what you need on ST.
Pacific_Falcon
Exactly. Just being average would be an improvement. And our kick return coverage is horrific. We arent givimg weems a chance to do anything.
J-RoC770
We could always try and steal Joe Dicamillis back from DAL, but they can keep Wade Phillips

Joe D is the best ST we ever had, he was awesome. Him + Mike Zimmer for DCoord and a totally new Off Coord (falcons always seem to get crap OffCords) with Mike Smith would be a dynasty in the making. blizzard_falcon
Oh and bring back Allen Rossum idk if he retired or not.I don't know, I think Eric Weems has been the lone bright spot on special teams besides Koenen's kickoffs... As of last week he was 14th in kick return average and 7th in punt return average. This week might drop him a little, but I think he's been doing all right. With Joe D, i think what led to his downfall was because they chose lame Adam Jennings over Rossum which was a bonehead move.

Not really sure who we could get to replace Mularkey... maybe we should just bump Bill Musgrave up from QB coach.

You bring up an interesting point about Musgrave...MM has failed everywhere he has landed, and we may have to promote Musgrave eventually to keep him from going outside of the organization anyhow. I'm sure that's part of the reason he was named an assistant head coach. In any case, our special teams have to improve both on coverage and on returns. I just about puked when the return to open the second half happened, and Weems had 3 Browns on top of him at the 15 yard line. where the **** was everybody?
