  1. 1. How would you grade MM through the first quarter of the season?

    • A - Immaculate. We've been able to move the ball at will and will only get better as the season progresses.
    • B - Above average. Big improvement over previous years. Needs some tweeking to be excellent.
    • C - Average. I except more from this group of talent. Play calling has been dull and needs to improve.
    • D - Below average. There is no excuse for us not putting up more points on the board.
    • F - Failure. Replace him now before it gets worse.

I did the same thing with BVG so here we go with another big debate.

Many people were calling for MMs head before the season and after each game.

Many people have issues with his play calling (Ryan roll out, run up the middle on every 1st down, lack of deep throws, etc).

However, the birds are at 3-1 through the first quarter and the stats are as follows....

The Falcons are 6th in the league in yard/game with 378.2.

9th in the league in pts/game with 23.2.

1st in the league in 1st downs with 24.8.

3rd in the league for 3rd down percentage at 48%.

3rd in turn over ratio at +5.

9th in passing TDs with 6.

10th in the league in passing yard/game with 233.5.

10th in rushing TDs with 3.

18th in rushing ypc at 3.9.

3rd in total rushing yard with 579.

How would you grade Mularkey through the first quarter of the season?

I give him a B- or C+. I'm glad we've gotten enough done to win games but I expect more from this group. I think he's calling a good mix of runs and passes but things like opposing teams keying in on our snap count is no good. He needs to mix it up and I don't give two dingleberries if he doesn't like screens, we need to run them with the personnel we have. Period.

had to go with a c, great to get the wins, but still think we could do so much more on offense! imo the last drive against san fran was pretty impressive though ( thanks to the guy who started that thread!!!)

how much of that success is squarely on matty ice stepping up after a mistake? dare i say overcoming coaching?

still overall happy with 3-1 just wanting a bit more!

Thank you.

I feel we've won games in spite of MMs playcalling. Is it just me or do we only seem to move the ball when Ryan's calling the plays in the no huddle?

That INT was squarely on Ryan as he was trying to force something to Tony that wasn't there.

However, I do agree with another poster that Ryan seems to get the most done when he's running the hurry up.
