Tim Mazetti
It seems to me that DTs in the league; P. Jerry, Dorsey, McCoy (Bucs) and others (Suh has two sacks though) take a while to be a force (total tackles, sacks, pressures etc.) like Babs (veteran) has. It seems that we must wait for Jerry, Peters and Walker. What do you think or know? Edited September 28, 2010 by Tim Mazetti
atljbo
I think they finally get in their 3rd year... Now sometimes there are freaks like Suh.... But yea... about 3 years to fully get it.... It doesnt mean they cant get sacks now.... I'm talking about fully getting it.I look at Glenn Dorsey... Everyone has called him a bust but dude has been great this year. (in his 3rd year)
Tim Mazetti
Yea, it seems it took Babs four years. Given that factoid, we have a wait.
millenium falcon
generally 3rd or 4th year players of most positions are at their peak.
Hashbrown3
I think we get better at DT as the year progresses. The injuries become less of a factor as the strength and confidence come back.
Spoooooooon4MVP
if you watch the Falcons official saints highlight video you'll see peters in just about every defensive play.
Finally
It is usually not hard to predict toward the end of one season who is primed to break out the next.
bighurt
I think jerry is still working his way back from injury, and Peters is still wearing a knee brace. So as players get healthy we will be much better
Justin A.C
i have faith that P.jerry will be a force. just gotta give him time
popcornplaya
Peria Jerry is essentially a rookie this season. He missed the entire season last year. I'm not expecting huge things from him this season. If he can eat up blocks and free up our DE's (which are undersized IMO and suck against the run) I'm happy. Even if he does it periodically, I can't get mad because it's his rookie season.
atljbo
I think Peria is going to be a monster as a pass rusher... His first step is ridiculous (when he is 100% healthy).. Dude just have to play and learn the NFL game. Our D-Line Coach is a great teacher... He will teach Peria and Peters the right technique. 1989Fan
just remember Jerry's knee. Rule of thumb is 2 seasons to completely move past a knee.I truly think Jerry would be on babs level this year had the knee not gone out. I have been a huge Babs supported since his Sr year. Actually wanted him over Raji all while the board was gushing for Raji.
MagnusXXIII
Don't read to much into it ... Even in 4-3's one DT tends to play sacrificial anode.Good experience for the rooks ... As they contribute in a team effort on the line.
The O.D.B
if you watch the Falcons official saints highlight video you'll see peters in just about every defensive play. For reals man, Peters is a friggin monster that's just been hatched. by the end of the season he's gonna be ****** level(making me go dadada wow) and give Jerry some serious comp for the spotlight. Love this dude. If Jerry can out shine him we are gonna be feared big time.
Tim Mazetti
Thanks all. I am not able to record games, but I learned from you to check out highlights on the web.
HatedInRayJay1
Thanks all. I am not able to record games, but I learned from you to check out highlights on the web.Man you got to get a DVR... Me living in Tampa sucks because I may get one game a year that I can watch at home and record instead of hitting the bars. Thanks to the Bucs blackout last weekend this last game was one of them. That game is going to be on my DVR for a while

Knight of God
Depends on what you are asking them to do and the players they are surrounded with.

You have DT’s like Kevin Williams of Minnesota who was an instant success. Then look at someone like Jamal Williams (Denver and San Diego before) who was in season 8 before he made a pro bowl (has 3 total to date). Our very own Jonathan Babineaux is in year six and has gotten better every year. Chris Hovan started out pretty solid but has turned out to be nothing special. Gerard Warren is on his 4th team in 10 seasons. He has some decent numbers and has been solid but given that he was #3 overall you would expect more. Then there are numerous guys that have just not panned out at all, see Ryan Sims, Wendell Bryant and Johnathan Sullivan. When you draft a guy, you never know what you are going to get. Teams and fans need to be patient, but also realize that sometimes you just have to cut bait. Guys were on our board talking about we should trad for Glenn Dorsey. Truth be told, he may never be anything to write home about just b/c he was dominant in college.
