Some FSU recruiting news...

unconquered.

I'm bored and I know most of you don't give a crap but it'll give me something to do lol.

So we have a recruits father who is close with a UF commit, he says he has changed is mind and would have committed to us last Saturday but a surprise birthday party got in his way.

All our current committs seem very firm, although there are all kinds of questions about Terrance Smith. James Wilder Jr. is actually surprising people with how committed he is after most thought he would be wishy washy.

We currently hold the lead for Giorgio Newberry,Jacob Fahrenkrug, Errin Joe, Ruben Carter(who wanted to commit weeks ago but has to wait on his mother to visit) Nick O'Leary, and Tony Steward. So a top 5 class is very much possible.

As for 2012 we are sitting very pretty right now. P.J. Williams and Dalvon Stuckey(gawd he is huge for a 16 year old!) are current commits. With us either leading or around the tops for the services of Chris Black, Jameis Winston, Dante Fowler, Mario Edwards and Travis Blanks. So its looking good for 2012 to.

Jimbo and company have put together a good-looking class. They have addressed a lot of needs and have already used that momentum to spring-board into the 2012 class. Do you guys expect to sign any "surprise" recruits in this year's class?

I think if we did pull out the UF commit then thats big. But other than the big 4 of Los,JWJ,Steward and Nick O I don't see us getting anybody that much bigger. But we are getting an official from Clowney and this staff has taught me never to doubt them. Even though it is highly unlikely he thinks heavily about coming here.

Clowney is going to USCe...always has been and always will be. No Ray Drew, huh :D (I said that only b/c I have a friend who is a big FSU fan who is certain that Drew is going to FSU...absolutely certain)

Please take away all of the UF commits that you want...we don't mind :)

TBH I don't know whats going on with Drew. Don't really care either. He has one of the weirdest recruitments I've seen.

It wouldn't be a surprise if he came to FSU seeing as how he was almost a sure thing with Bobby here but who knows.

So kicker, are you close with the Lowdnes program? If so how is Tylers ankle?

Does having yearly sideline passes count as being close? :D

His ankle is fine. He sat out one game this year b/c we were playing a nobody team and didn't need him or Geraldo Orta (who has been battling a bum shoulder). I wouldn't say that Tyler is a 100% (more like 85 or 90%) but he has looked good this year on both sides of the ball (he has great hands). The doctors seem to think that they have his neck situation figured out and that he is going to be fine. He will do well down at FSU.

Will you be on the sideline for the Valdosta/Lowndes game?

Not sure...depends on if my wife wants to go or not. If she decides that she is going then I usually sit up in the stands with her b/c she doesn't like to stand on the sideline (go figure). I don't think she is planning on going this year though, so I will probably be down there. Why? You going to be down there as well...

I might be down there.. We'll see if I can get a pass, I write for the Valdosta State newspaper and I'm actually doing a story relating to Lowndes/VHS/VSU so we'll see. So I'm definitely going.

Awesome...I hope to see you there. When the game gets closer I will hit you up and see if maybe we can cross paths on the sideline. It should be a great game this year...last year's game was a massive blowout, and like I told Sac, we probably could have hung 100 on VHS if Randy had wanted too. I think it is definitely going to be a lot more competitive game this year, though.

Sounds good. I'm pretty excited. There's going to be an incredible amount of college talent on the field and that is actually relevant to the article I'm writing, so I can't wait to watch. I definitely think it'll be a good game.

I'm still debating who to pull for though!

Yes sir, there is definitely going to be a lot of D1 talent on the field that night. The thing that scares me going into this game is that we are so young on the Offensive Line and Valdosta has an awesome front four...will be interesting to see who wins the battle in the trenches. As an fyi, Lowndes is only getting 3,0000 tickets from Valdosta for this years game so there is definitely going to be a lot more them than us :)

Kicker: I can't remember if it was you that asked me about Telvin during the off-season.

But I have to apologize for me knocking him. Kid is a play maker! His speed is remarkable and he is making quite a name for himself with special teams and when he gets on the field.

Yes sir, it was I who asked you about how Telvin was doing. The kid just has a nose for the football...he was the exact same way in high school. He was in on pretty much every tackle on both defense and special teams. You guys got yourself a playmaker...that is why Jimbo and company made him a serious priority. Unlike Greg Reid, Telvin learned how to tackle properly while he was in high school

On a different note, Coach MacPherson was talking about Greg the other day and made a statement that I wholeheartedly agree with. Coach Mac talked about how he was definitely not a college coach by any stretch of the imagination, but in his humble opinion Jimbo needs to get Greg as many touches on Offense as possible. He talked about how Greg is an ok defender, but an unbelievable slot receiver/rb...the same moves you seem him imploy on his pr/kr are the same moves he utilizes when he is running the ball out of the backfield (Go look at his high school highlight video on youtube). I know that he is on the smaller side, but the kid has a vision of the field that not many people possess. Just a nugget for you...

Believe me all the fans are wanting G5 to be switched to offense. He is getting better but still a guy like him you want the ball in his hands.

According to O'Leary's cousin, who I talked to today, if he were to pick today it would be Miami.

If that be the case then I'm hearing way different. But even if we miss out on NOL I still think we get Brandon Fulse. Nick is an out of this world tight end and to be honest I don't know why he would want to come here. Tight end just hasn't been our forte. But in Jimbo's system we will be utilizing it more and it seems Miami is lessening its focus on TE.

That would be a blow to FSU's recruiting class. They really want O'leary bad...but can't blame him for being more interested in Miami considering all of the TE's the "U" has put in the NFL.

I know fsu guys have been pretty confident on getting o'leary and it would be a blow, but as cody said they could get fulse and be okay since he is a very good prospect as well. Miami has a great history with their Tight Ends.

kingjamez, were you able to get either a ticket or sideline pass to the game next Friday?
