Safetys...followed closely by our physical corners

I agree, although it feels weird to write this after so many years of subpar secondary players. It just filled me with glee to see Decoud and Moore--two young, fast and vicious assassins running all over the field. What is even cooler is that despite Decoud's thin appearance he's a head hunter; and despite moore's size he's a centerfielder. I love this position.

Second most impressive to me is secondary. Even though they make mistakes (don't all secondaries other than the jets?) Robinson and owens and even grimes are just aggressive hardhitting guys. My interest is also piqued by the rookie Franks--he's got some swagger.

Least impressive is the DLine. JA98 looks good as a DT; Babs will be good as usual. But jerry is unimpressive thus far and frankly our DEs are well...ok right now.

The LB corps to me is what a LB corps should be: steady. They fill the gaps stay in position and do what they need to do. It'll be interesting to see if Spoon and Lofton raise their "playmaking" level up higher as the season goes.

On my DLine note: I know BVG and Smith knows what's best, but i still don't see how some size in the middle wouldn't help. The penetrating guys are nice, but really beyond Babs i've yet to see the midgets really "penetrating" the line. JA98 is looking like a very good nickle DE and would be an UT in most 43 defenses.

There are things that excite in each of these areas:

I am more excited when Trey Lewis is in the defensive line rotation.

I am more excited when Nicholas is on the the field instead of Peterson.

I am more excited when Moore is on the field instead of Coleman.

I will start getting more excited when Domonigue Franks sees time at corner.

So I would say I am happy watching our defense play.

Got to disagree on the DL ...

We have shown we can get pressure even on the three man rush.

Maybe what you are sensing is Abe not yet making a huge impact.

Trey Lewis is big by anyone's standards and now more atheltic than most 320 pounders.

Corey Peters got good push and contributed to the Biermann sack on that three man rush.

With us being able to cycle through 9 startable players constantly - a 295 pound tackle that is fresh will feel like a Mack truck later in the game.

you may be right. It does seem the DEs arent' really "nailing" the qb yet. Theyre getting pressure, but just not dominangt.
