SacFalcFan
Big weekend for recruiting in Athens. Here is some stuff I know from talking to a few guys who were on the sideline. Damian Swann is a very strong lean. I wouldn't be surprised if he pulled the trigger soon publicly. Ty Montgomery said publicly he is going to stay committed to stanford, but i highly doubt that. Ty gave everyone the impression he would be a dawg. We will see where this ends up. LaMichael Fanning was on campus for an unofficial visit. He and his mom are very close with Garner. It was good to get him on campus. Tre Jackson was on campus, but no offer yet. They want to see his film and decide on whether to offer or not.As you guys know we offered Maurice Couch, DT. No word on when he will visit.Crowell didn't make it, but will be up for Tennessee. We are in a very good spot with him. Spencer Region had a nice visit. I still don't see him leaving the state of bama. Xzavier Dickson was on campus and had a great visit. We have moved up that list. 5 Star OT John Theus was all decked out in uga gear. I don't see how he doesn't come to UGA.

I haven't heard anything about him recently. Is he just putting the recruiting on the backburner or something?

jtcrews75
We are in fine shape for Jay Rome. Good to hear there was a cb out of florida who named us his leader as well, read it on 247 but I can't remember his name. Roberson I think. Also with who we have committed or leans i doubt we would take him anyways over the other players we are targeting.

Billy Ocean
For the UTk game guest list, I' d like to see all the Carver-Columbus boys, all the Valdosta boys, as well as Swann, Drew, Shell, and Dickson. Also, we need those who (whom?, gotdamnit, I can never remember how that works)have already verbally committed to continue attending home games so that they might talk-up UGA to the uncommitted. aPureTerror
The way our secondary played, Swann has to love the promise of premium playing time his freshman year.It was the THIRD game for everybody in a new defense against the hands down no.1 QB in the country. itsjustafleshwound
It was the THIRD game for everybody in a new defense against the hands down no.1 QB in the country.Boykin is great and they rarely throw to his side of the field. On the other hand, while Cuff generally covered well, a few times that didn't matter as he was simply outjumped. One of Swann's greatest assets is his size which is pretty important in this system. You're 100% right though, the huge breakdowns in coverage had everything to do with not knowing the system perfectly, which should come in time. And yes, Mallet is that good, just usually not on the road.

Curran
You doubt UGA would take a commitment from the number two corner in the nation? Y'all must be stacked in the secondaryDamian Swann will go public with this commitment to Georgia in the coming weeks, if not sooner. From what I've heard, Swann is one of the best athletes in the country if not the best lockdown-cover corner. While I think Georgia would take a commitment from Roberson (they'd be idiots not to), I think sac is trying to say that with where Georgia stands with Swann, and their current need for other positions, the staff may not think Roberson is much of a priority at this point. I sure would love to see Roberson and Swann together though. Unfortunately, Richt and Company like to award a ton of walk on scholarships after they've assured that they won't have to tell a kid that they've promised a scholarship to, that it won't be honored (Nick Saban). They only take a certain number of players at positions of need and then close the door. I wish they'd be a bit more like Saban and oversign a little. You can't have too many athletes. (especially if they are the 2nd best at their position in the country). Not saying they have closed the door on Roberson, but if I know Richt and how they operate, I'd have to guess that they aren't as high on Roberson as Roberson is Georgia with the current needs and players committed or "silently" committed. Curran
Forgot to mention Georgia already has Devin Bowman committed. He is listed as an ATH, but he will play corner. Even more reason to believe Georgia is full in the secondary for this class.

Nicolae
You doubt UGA would take a commitment from the number two corner in the nation? Y'all must be stacked in the secondaryI think Sac means that Swann and MM are simply a higher priority there. Also, while we are "in the running", we are probably little more than a hat on the table here and CMR probably knows that. IMO we are actually pretty thin in the secondary and so long as we either have commitments from the current targets or know we aren't getting them, we would take a commit from Roberson in a heartbeat. We just have other guys we are more concerned with landing than him, but it would be pretty stupid to turn him away if he wanted to commit to us. SacFalcFan
You doubt UGA would take a commitment from the number two corner in the nation? Y'all must be stacked in the secondaryi really wasn't saying anything negative on marcus, but the only way you take his commitment is if he is willing to stop his visits and end his recruiting especially with who we have on board or are strong leans to uga. example is let's say uga knows crowell is coming to athens. do you think they take a commitment from malcolm brown from texas who let's say isn't close to being done with the recruiting process putting crowell's commitment in danger? heck no.. you can't do that. right now uga has Damian Swann and is in very very good shape with Malcolm Mitchell (teammate of jay rome). If I am uga and i am as confident in getting those two guys who are perfect fits for our defense no way would i jeopardize that with taking a commitment even from marcus roberson if he is going to continue to travel and continue his recruiting. I am sure if he called CMR and said "I am done with my recruitment and I want to be a dawg" which included no more traveling UGA would accept his commitment (depending on what other commitments at cb we have already accepted), but he isn't at that point yet so it would make no sense to accept it. We already have 2 cbs committed publicly, 1 other committed, and another 1 we are in very good shape for so I don't know if we have the numbers to take 5 cbs.
