crankdatfalcon
brian billuck and thom (whatever his last name is) who called the game yesterday, they made sooooooooooooo many mistakes. Lets count them from what i can remember-calling jason snelling aaron snelling-calling tony gonzales anthony-calling greg toler thomas decoud, and vice versa because they both were #28.-4th qtr became the 4th inning and obviously tim lincecum (pitcher for the giants) plays for the falcons because derek anderson was facing pressure from him all game. There were so many more mistakes, and they call themselves "experts"... DD: Objective Elite
In all fairness to Thom, he is a baseball guy after all. His dad is some what of a legend here in Cincinnati(called the Reds games since 73) I'm not sure why FOX is using him in NFL games though, maybe someone was ill. KJinCton
Brian Billick and Mike Smith are brother-in-laws. Mike is married to Brian's sister. He calls a good game usually with some good insights. I was at the game yesterday and similar mistakes were being made by the Falcons announcer. At one point, Dunta Robinson defended a pass and out came..."pass broken up by #23 Chris Houston" Let's give them the benefit of the doubt and call them rusty in the first few games of the season. Dominique is Manufique
they also accused sean weatherspoon of the late hit out of bounds which it was actually william moore. then spoon recorded his first career sack and they were all about how he could now show his face to the coaching staff due to the personal foul the play before...their play by play and color were particularly unprofessional yesterday. aerosmith67
I never have that problem with home games, going to the game makes a world of difference! Keep in mind though that the announcers are just talking heads, they're fed stats and plays by spotters who ID player names, numbers and stats. Faithful Falcon
They could have been hating on us as Troy and Joe does. I looked at it on DVR, and they did fine. Whether it's Chris Snelling or Anthony Gonzalez. It's still not Jonathan Abraham or Aljay Crumpler.
freakyfalcon
Thom sucks at calling football. I remember the UGA-Hawaii Sugar bowl a couple years back and he was making all types of mistakes. It was almost unbearable to listen to him.Thank goodness I was at the game this time. KJinCton
Wes is usually great, but I think it was he who threw out the Chris Houston comment. Truly, I wouldn't worry about any of these guys except for the baseball guy doing football. Just as the players are rusty, so are they. Still loud but it was almost like nobody was at the game...The mistakes you mentioned plus the sound issues lead me to believe this just wasn't a very high profile game for anyone other then Falcons and Cardinal fans so no extra effort/attention was put into it. Either way I still like Brian Billick but I could just tell it wasn't made to be a very exciting game... and for the latter half of it it really wasn't all that exciting but I sure do enjoy the relaxation from a win like this. JOEinPHX
Sure, the many miscues by the announcers were a little troubling to the more knowledgeable fans. But Billick made up for all when he told his Ovie Mughelli story. If you missed it, Ovie played for Billick back in Baltimore, and Billick mentioned talking to Ovie at one time about his college days. Ovie told Brian that Wake Forest was a really good school, "as good as any of those schools in the Ivory League".You can bet that one will be making the rounds in the locker room this week. Tim Mazetti
Yea, I am used to not hearing any of the Falcons games (I watch in taverns in Bucville). I never developed the tolerance for any TV commentators. I do not miss it. When I lived in the ATL area, I always had the game on the radio and the TV muted. I come here for a complete game breakdown on Monday.
RunningThePiszOuttaTheBall
Yeah, they made some mistakes, but they were MUCH better than "moose and goose". Those guys make twice as many mistakes, and what's worse, they're biased against the Falcons. And moose keeps saying the same ting over and over (and it will be the most inane point ... not even worth saying once, let alone repeating). So I enjoyed the commentators yesterday. It was funny how they had never heard of Snelling.
