What frustrate me is that dude was having a good game.... I was opening a new thread to give him props but then he commits the 1st penalty... I was thinking.. Let me hold off and let us score first.. That one penalty wont look so huge.... But dude did 2 more penalties....

Baker had a good game until then.

So far, Baker needs to tighten up. I don't care what the score looks like, these are still mistakes. Just harken back to last week and see how much damage these mental errors can cause. maybe y'all can help me understand why he is holding. Is it because he is getting beat and then hangs on to avoid a Ryan injury or is it because he ain't the most intelligent guy on the field? Tighten up Baker!!!angry.gif

I think Baker, like majority of this board, is a prime RT candidate. He is serviceable at LT but his short arms cause him to struggle vs 3-4 because they send faster OLBs as opposed to DEs. I think he is fine and just needs time. No reason to give up on him 2 games into his 3rd year. How many people can block Harrison all game? He just had 3 sacks against the Titans.

I think this is a big year for Baker - by the end of it, I think he'll either have cemented his hold on the position long term or shown that it may be time to start assessing our options at that position.

The talent is definitely there, but he needs to show better technique at times and also needs to be more consistent. Sometimes he looks all-world out there, while other times he looks practically replacement level...

I agree with this... I also believe that Baker is better suited for RT. I wish we would make a play for Marcus McNeil he is a solid LT, and he would love to come home to the ATL I think. Any opinions?

This is a good post imo. But we need to be able to play against the best at a high level. That means handle some of the best pass rushers in the nfl during playoff time. He is still learning and working at getting better that is why I remain hopeful.

My thoughts during that drive:

"Penalty... annoying... Baker"

"Another Penalty... more annoying... Baker again?!"

"ANOTHER PENALTY?! BAKER AGAIN?!"

Still, at least we were a long way ahead by that point. Unlike the Cards, giving away a penalty pretty much every down in the first quarter!

I think Tyson Clabo gets worked over way more than we notice and needs to be called out for it

I disagree. I think the majority of this board would make a terrible RT

Our 1st pick in the next draft needs to be a monster LT. Then we can move Baker to RT.

I totally agree!! I know we're a long ways out, but this upcoming draft should be mostly about upgrading our OFFENSE. Perhaps LT, TE, WR and RB (depending on how we address the situation with Norwood) are the main issues we should address...

We used a 1st rounder on Baker in 08 and everyone thinks that was a waste of a pick, so instead we should go out and spend some money on a Marcus McNeil or a Jared Gaither or even a Jermon Bushrod next year

He was on the field for 2/3 of the game. Almost 40 minutes against their top DE/LB. He was probably exhausted. I too got PO'd at the penalties and wanted him to be replaced for a few plays by Svitek.
