Stoic
Matt RAN this game. Smart calls, leadership.....BOO-YA!! 41-7. Feels good! But the REAL test is next week.
ghostofdonkey
I'll chime in. MM obviously relied heavily on the run today. Once again Ryan is only throwing 10 yrd hook routes. The problem with Ryan is he isn't a dynamic play-maker, it's painful to watch his play. Wow, good job Matt throwing 20 10 yrd hook routes. Great job vs a Cardinal team that imploded with penalties and bad offense. This game did nothing to make me or anyone else who thinks Ryan is average think differently. Remember, it's about DYNAMIC play-making at the QB position, not game-managing from the QB.

red falcon
Matt will be fine next week if the defense continues to play great football. We aren't playing the steelers D, this is more of a test for our Defense I believe.

On that throw to Finneran, had that been a better quality DB that would have been a pick. The throw was not back shoulder, it was actually a jump ball in the FRONT of the endzone. Can't throw it that way next week for sure.
joenate
I want to say a few things. I do not care if I am viewed as a Ryan hater/basher, troll, Eagles fan, etc, etc, etc. Matt Ryan is still making some mistakes that I feel he should not be making as a 3rd year QB. In this game, he was still staring down receivers and routes. Now, listen, I was happy with his performance overall, but if we are going to defeat the quality opponents, we need to be masters at the fundamentals of the game. Also, while his completion percentage was 65%, I believe he is still shaking off some off-season rust. I look forward to Matt making the necessary adjustments and improvements to perform even better against what will be a quality opponent next week. Its not about Dynamic playmaking...its about winning.Exactly. Dynamic passing yards doesn't mean **** to me if were not putting up touchdowns. Look at the Colts first game. Peyton threw for 400 yards and still lose the **** game. And for the Matt Ryan haters I'm not comparing Matt to Peyton.

Finally
I'll chime in. I don't know much about football but I do know what I hate, and that is Matt Ryan. Nothing makes me happier than to see him thrown interceptions and nothing makes me sadder than to see him throw a TD. Nothing would make me happier than to see him called the biggest qb draft bust of all time. One of the things I did during the offseason to prepare for the season was to learn Hoodoo. I have a Matt Ryan doll that I stick pins into during the game. I concentrate on his throwing arm, his head, and for some reason his crotch. Something went wrong this week because he did well. I will have to figure it out because I can't afford to keep buying TVs that later get destroyed during my tantrums. The only thing that calms me down is making out with my Michael Vick blow up doll I had made. I hope one day it lets me get beyond second base.Wow. I can't believe you just admitted all of that. I should start a thread, but I'm not going to. I'll just give my two cents here. Not picking on you joenate, just decided to post here. Matt had a very good game today. Very good. Except for the fumble and one pass that was underthrown I think he played about as perfect of a game as he anyone could have. That ball in Finn was thrown exactly where it should have been thrown. Finn had a six inch advantage over the CB. It is as much the receivers responsibility to catch that ball as the QB to throw it to a spot. If the WR cannot catch the ball he should knock it down. That is receiver 101. That throw to HD in the end zone. Ryan put the ball exactly where he should have. Even though it was incomplete no one but the receiver had any chance at it. I had a big smile on my face after that play because IT FORCED THE SAFETIES BACK!!! Ryan was not staring down the receivers. He was watching the DB's in their drops. On three step drops you dont scan the whole field. You look for certain match-ups pre snap and then watch the key, whether it is the safety, CB or LB. Three step drops generally only have one or two primary routes and a check down. When Ryan was in the shot gun or took 5 and 7 step drops he scanned the whole field. If you don't understand what Im saying rewatch the game. Ryan's understanding of blitz packages and secondary coverages was excellent. Did you notice there wasnt a single out patter run today by a primary receiver, they were all slants, hooks, hitches and a few fly/post patterns. Matt also audibled into a screen pass if you noticed that got a big pick up in the second half.I don't know what some of you guys want. Ryan to throw for 500 yards and 6 touchdowns??? I agree he needs to be a little more consistent and maybe rely on Roddy a little less, but come on. That was a perfectly managed game and almost perfect play from the QB. Next week will be a test. NO has a tougher defense, but something tells me Ryan is going to be a little more consistent next week. I also know this. NO is in for a shock when they play Pittsburgh this year. I also watched them dismantle Tenn today. Pittsburgh might just be the best team in the NFL, if not the AFC this year. That pains me because I hate the city. (Captain Falcon)
Matt played a great game. Im glad to see some deep balls thrown just gotta get the touch right. I would have been great to see Matty air it out a couple more times.
