markdzul
Getting pretty tee'd off at the threads about "Doubts" that are being thrown out there by fans, Front Office???, and haters all together. If you officially want off the Matt Ryan train go ahead and say so on this thread. This way you can be counted with all the doubters and even the haters. Look I struggle with some of the decisions that he has made as a qb, whether its his fault or not. I for one am not ready to give up on him. I get that a bunch of Noobs will post. Not a problem. Need to here from you people that post here all the time. How can you doubt the organization that took us from 4-12 to 11-5 9-7 with one playoff apperance and loads of talent "including a reasonably consistant quarterback. He may not be Peyton Manning, but at least he isn't Jake Delhomme..... help me out here ladies and gents..... falken
I'm on every Falcons' players bandwagon. I pull for the contract they signed to be worth every penny and then some. I pull for them on every snap.Ryan has tremendous upside. He's already accomplished what no other QB has been able to do in over 4 decades by posting B2B. There is every reason to be optimistic. The game in Pittsburgh should definitely not be too heavy of a measuring stick. Be realistic in the fact he has a winning record as a starter in the NFL which is no small achievement. His upside is that he studies the game hard. He learns from his mistakes. He will get better and better and hopefully one day be the elite QB that many of us dream about. nativefalcon
I think the apocalypse has been foretold for the day I jump off that particular bandwagon.I agree, also I'm not one that doesn't think its Mattys fault at all, its the slightly balding man in the OC chair, that does the same plays over and over expecting different results also known as insanity and predicability. If we don't make the playoffs and start doing better, its all on Mularkey.

You want to blindly worship mediocrity, you go ahead, but don't call other people out if they believe that performance and W's must figure into the equation before we deify any one player on this team, including the QB. lokifalcon55
Take it easy, these fans are not used to a QB. That thing he has been doing at Flowery Branch, the thing Vick never did, it's called "work ethic", say it with me, "work ethic". He is being a "leader". Sure Vick gets the hype this week in Philly, if you watched their game last week, he is still making the same football mistakes he made when he was in ATL. Not to mention the moral mistakes he made in ATL. Now Peyton Manning lost last week. I guess he sucks. No, he is a "leader", contrary to belief, he cannot win the game by himself. Neither can Ryan. No Ryan is not perfect or even as good as Manning, but all this negative crap is because they lost one game. How many negative post would there be if the Falcons would have won last week in OT? So please take a step back from the ledge.

Everytime I voice a concern about Matt Ryan (win or lose) I either get attacked with childish-ness or receive private messages. I am just as much an Atlanta Falcons fan as the next, and have been since 1996; however, I am not blind, deaf, or stupid.

Instead of the Ryan and MM bashing, everyone would be praising the Defense. I love watching the idiots on this board implode. That was a hard fought game with two Tough defenses. But because we lost, Ryan sucks... I for one love Ryan. I think he's the best thing that's happened to this team in a long time. Brought us wins and got us over the Quitrino/Vick mess... hellosma
I could of started a new thread, but ill post this here. PEOPLE, READ THIS and look at the numbers. Drew and Peyton didnt become dominant till after around 4-7 seasons in the league.Drew Brees first 4 years-2004 San Diego Chargers - 27TD - 7INT - Rating of 104.82003 San Diego Chargers - 11TD - 15INT - Rating of 67.5 2002 San Diego Chargers - 17TD - 16INT - Rating of 76.9 2001 San Diego Chargers - 1TD - 0INT - Rating of 94.8 (played only 1 game)Peyton Manning first 4 years-2001 Indianapolis Colts - 26TD - 23INT - Rating of 84.12000 Indianapolis Colts - 33TD - 15INT - Rating of 94.71999 Indianapolis Colts - 26TD - 15INT - Rating of 90.71998 Indianapolis Colts - 26TD - 28INT - Rating of 71.2NOW Matt Ryan's first 2 Seasons 2009 Atlanta Falcons - 22TD - 14INT - Rating of 80.1 (missed 2 games, and played out the season injured badly)2008 Atlanta Falcons - 16TD - 11INT - Rating of 87.7PEOPLE NEED TO CALM DOWN, Most atlanta fans have knee jerk reactions to everything and need to look at the big picture. Give matt a couple seasons (if not after this season) and he will show he is the next generation of the term 'elite'. Just look at the numbers, would you of said the same things about Bress after his first 3 seasons? Maybe a OC change is needed, maybe Matty needs to get more confidence, time will tell. But I am happy as **** with what I have seen so far. I for one am not jumping ship on this guy, he is going to be our franchise QB for the next 8-10 years, if not longer. And I am excited to see what he can do for this city.
Photofalcon
I have to say, that I don't see Ryan as being a problem at all. In fact he is very much a step in the right direction for this team. The O-line was horrible last week, and he stood in there like a trooper and did not panic. Stockton even commented on how well he was doing with the pocket collapsing around him so quickly. Blame the o-line, blame Mularkey, blame the fact that Norwood can't hang on to the ball and only Roddy can get open, but you really can't blame Ryan. For a third year QB, who doesn't have the luxury of an effective running game (for whatever reason), I think Ryan is just fine. He did make some bad throws, but the Steeler's pressure was immense. When he starts getting some help, we will start seeing some W's. So yeah I am def on the Ryan bandwagon. It's time to move on to someone who can continue to teach this gifted, cerebral qb how to progress. Mularkey's system has stymied Ryan's potential. As successful as it may be against poor and mediocre teams, it is equally UNsuccessful against good and great teams. We need our system to progress and we are at the apex of Mularkey's system; what we've seen from the past three years is what we'll get from him.Ryan needs to continue to work on his strength and accuracy. Other than that I am still completely sold on his "franchise qb" status. I couldn't see a college draft prospect or AVAILABLE NFL qb that I'd rather have. Photofalcon
the REASON we dont have an effective running game is because we dont have an effective oline or running back. turner is not an ap or steven jackson that can handle the load by himself. his style of running is better suited for a committee based rushing attack and for some reason the coaching staff cant put norwood to use. snelling is overrated to me and norwood is injury prone. we will be drafting a rb high next year along with wr and oline. yeah we have talent at those positions but we need to surround matt with BIG TALENT. the coaching staff of the past screwed vick the same way. you cant rely on a great qb to do it by himself he still needs weapons and ryan is being cheated. get that man some wrs and a game breaking rb because snelling norwood turner finneran weems douglas and jenkins are NOT getting it done.I will agree with 99.9% of what you are saying, but I'm just not ready to write of Turner just yet. Steven Jackson he is not, but with a line that opens some holes he would still be a beast. What would Emmitt Smith have been without that monster o-line in Dallas? Heck, what would Aikman have been? Not in the HOF that's what.
hellosma
"Here we go. Comparing a bum to future HOF's. I noticed how you left the yards and records out because in '99 the Colts were 13-3 and Manning went over 4,000 that year. I got off last year when he lost those road games in Carolina and New Orleans. I don't care if we did have a winning record. What good is a winning record if we not in the post season? I'm thoroughly convinced that those 2 games cost us and Wonder-boy had some critical turnovers in them. If Vick has a few more beast games like he had against Green Bay in 1 half, then expect "Arthur Blank/FO screw up threads" in letting him go. "yea, and peyton's first season he went 3-13.... Whats your point? Peyton easily had over 100 or more attempts than ryan in his first couple seasons as well. Were a power running team, I just think It's funny how people are crucifying Matt after he gave us something in 2 years that no other quarterback ever could in our franchise history, even your precious Vick. If Ryan put up the numbers Brees did in his first couple seasons, you would of bashed him a **** of a lot worse... but what would you say now? Basically the way your talking is as a pessimist and not a true fan. We dont need people like you in this fan base, you all thrive off our short comings and it seems like people look forward to pointing a finger every week. Its very sad actually. And I never said Matty will become a HOF player, I even stated a couple possible reasons why he is not playing as well as we want him too. But you only look at what you want to see and hear what you want to hear. So the only way to change your mind is for matty to produce, which I think he will. Here is to a great season. hellosma
for the record, vick had 2 back to back winning seasons. your precious matt schaub ruined the 9-7 and turned it to an 8-8. back to reality for you son.Are you high? I guess vick should of done more to secure that 9-7, now shouldn't he. And calling me your son? you are funny sir.
