falconfanatic87
People like to compare Matt to Manning or Brady, if i had to choose between those two I'd say Brady, because he doesn't keep his feet moving like Manning, but overall, I believe Matt compares to Drew Brees, Brees was always a solid QB, put up good numbers, not great and people did not start labeling Brees elite until he won the superbowl, he just needed the right cast around him and the experience. What do you guys think? and please no negative threads about how Ryan will not be elite, if you believe that then just don't post...
falken
I love Ryan and his tremendous upside......but he has to become an elite QB before we can compare him to an elite QB.
falconfanatic87
I'm a glass half full kind of guy and think he is and will continue to develop into a very good QB...another reason why I say Brees is the leadership because no one has questioned that with Matt. Pay the Zebra
Brees throws for 4000 yards 25-30 tds in his sleep. Not even close at this point.Maybe young Chad Pennington.
Tandy
I love Ryan......but he has to become an elite QB before we can compare him to an elite QB.That's backwards. When he becomes an elite QB - they'll be comparing other QBs to him!
falconfanatic87
Guys I'm just saying QB's don't start off elite, Bottom line if you look at Ryan's numbers through his first two seasons they are pretty good, Maybe I should rephrase, just a successful QB that you can compare to Ryan, doesn't have to be elite..what is elite anyway? It depends on who you ask I guess...
falconfanatic87
I think if Ryan had finished the game with Tampa last year, and played against the Eagles and Saints he would have had atleast 25 TD's...in his second year...not bad. Firstiary
Ryan has a long way to go before he's elite, but I think if he ever does reach that status, then Brady will probably be a good comparison. I think that's his upside anyway. He has to become more accurate with his deep passes and he has to learn to take more risks when the situation calls for it IMO (no throwing the ball away on third down when we desperately need to score late in the game, for example). Pennington was awesome when he stayed healthy with the jets, he had huge QB ratings a couple of years and a couple of Pro Bowls.. Arm injuries ruined him, he is tough as nails and the Jets fans loved him..
Return-of-the-Falcon
Elite and Ryan do not belong in the same sentence.Ryan is at best Matt Hasselbeck, @ worse he's slightly better than Joey harrington.

MSalmon
I love Ryan and his tremendous upside......but he has to become an elite QB before we can compare him to an elite QB.I agree with you; but i watched the Steelers game and to tell you the truth Matt did not look bad at all overall. He was a bit erratic early--but adjusted. But Turner just looked terrible. It was almost like the steelers knew every play before it was snapped--i say this because in the no-huddle we moved the chains. I'm willing to concede that maybe the Steelers simply know Mularkey's MO, and having a great defense--it was just a bad combination.

maxatlanta
The OP isn't saying which elite QB is Ryan at the same level as. Of course Ryan isn't yet as good as the top QBs. I think his style fits most closely with Manning, mostly due to being smart and running a lot of "sugar huddle" where he gets to call his own plays. They are both deceptively more mobile than you expect. While Brady is an undeniable champion, he requires a better OL to do his thing than Manning or Ryan have ever had. When Ryan gets better at spreading the ball around, making post snap reads, and running the sugar huddle more often, he may then reach that elite level. And no, his arm strength doesn't compare well to most elite QBs.
iDash
How can anyone be Elite with the WRs we have?Put Brady with Weems, HD, Jenkins, Finn and WhiteBrady wouldnt be a Elite Qb at all!Plus with our OL of Average Scrubs, He would be broke in Half after a few games too
