sporkdevil
According to Peter King, the Pats are likely to deal their 2 time probowler left guard Logan Mankins, who is currently sitting out after refusing to sign his RFA tender. He was drafted in 2005 when Dimitroff was Director of College Scouting. Blalock is leaving a whole lot to be desired at the spot, and it could he could help out Baker and McClure by being actually consistent and good.He would probably get that elite level payday, like Jahri Evans, who got 7 years, $57 million, and would probably cost a 2nd or a 3rd and a little more. It's pretty expensive for a guard, but he would immediately turn into our best offensive lineman by far.
falken
Sorry......I'm a heavy Kool-Aid drinker but....This franchise has ALWAYS neglected top-tier offensive linemen like the plague.

Tribal Chief
Isn't he one of TD's former picks. All I remember is he was drafted at the end of the first round

Last probowl OL from us was Kyan Forney if I remember correctly.Isn't he one of TD's former picks. All I remember is he was drafted at the end of the first roundYup, he was 32nd overall. Dimitroff had to have really liked the guy if they took him that high. I think he was the Pats highest drafted OL.
sporkdevil
This needs to get done. A proven high level LT w/ plenty of tread on the tires. Get it done TD.He plays guard, but does have the size to move to left tackle. I think putting him next to Baker would improve Baker's consistency. Our OL is so young, it would be great to get a proven vet in their to assist the players. falken
I don't see us shelling out that kind of cash for an OL.I wish......but we won't.

dyoshot
Yes, would love to have a guy like him in here. He's big, mean, a jerk, and pushes guys around. I doubt it happens but would love for the TD to bring him home.

sporkdevil
Yeah, I don't know how likely it would be, but I would love it. And yes, I said the same thing about Vincent Jackson.I think if we lose another game, or have offensive line issues, we may be more willing to pay the price. Something needs to be done, considering how badly we got manhandled last Sunday.I would love to find a stud LT, a Boselli or Walter Jones type, (Santa hear my cry, LOL ) and move Baker to RT ... find a suitable eventual replacement for McClure ...hopefully Johnson will soon develop into a quality starting guard for us .....you are right, we must act sooner than later to fix this ...... sporkdevil
Wasn't Forney a 7th round pick?Yup. He went to San Diego after he left here, and I'm not sure if he has played a snap since. It's gonna happen eventually especially with all of our O-Line contracts coming to an end. Somebody is gonna want that big boy money and he's worth every penny.Good point. We are going to be dishing out money to some players, it's worth asking whether Mankins is that much better than the players we would otherwise extend (YES!). Gotta figure Blalock or Dahl would get between 3-5 million, and Mankins would be more around 7. Dahl and Clabo are coming up this offseason, Blalock the next (if we tender him), and I dunno about McClure. We do have the two rooks for replacement, but not sure if they are starter quality or if we will have an open starter spot in the next year. maxatlanta
I would not complain if we replaced possibly our weakest offensive starter (Blalock) with a probowler.

Isn't that why we drafted Hawley and Johnson? I wish....but I just don't see us doing it for that much money with the season already started barring injuries. We spent the money on Dunta which makes me think that we WON'T spend that much on Mankins. We could start a Fund Raiser?

We will need Blalock's replacement soon, as I can't imagine we give him a contract.Yeah, we spent plenty on Dunta, but if there was a year to spend some more, the uncapped year would be a good year to do it. Tootie Quivers
Mankins would improve just about everyone's offensive line, but for the money he isn't worth giving up draft picks. The improvement over Blalock isn't great enough, not to mention Blalock is too good to not be playing. I don't have a problem replacing Baker though.
