atljbo
Travis Lewis would complete our LB group... We would by far have the most talented LB core in the NFL... Lewis fits our scheme perfectly... The guy is the best coverage LB in college football, hits hard,a good blitzer, and is fast like a safety... I like Nicholas but the guy was benched so im guessing that the coaching staff see's him as a good rotational LB/ST... Mike P is old and in his last year of his deal...In our scheme the LB's positions are very important.... They are asked to blitz but also cover allot.... Travis Lewis would look good on our Defense.Also... TD seems to like Oklahoma players..lol
hakim24
I don't think LB is a big enough need to warrant a 1st round pick. Our Offensive line is drastically overrated and our WR corps could use a new weapon. I would even argue that CB is a bigger need.
KRUNKuno
I'm gonna agree with both of you here.Travis Lewis would definitely complete our LB corp. Mike Peterson is getting old. Yes we have Weatherspoon, but we still need another outside LB. Travis is like Weatherspoon in that he's very versatile, but he's much more physical than Weatherspoon. I like his game even if he does come off as a bit cocky.I wouldn't be mad with the pick. Heck a lot of teams build around one key component. Giants always draft a Defensive End. Philly always drafts an interior lineman. Dallas always picks the BPA. We could be Linebacker Central here in Atlanta if we picked Lewis. But, Matt Ryan and our running game could use a big boost from a phenomenal lineman as well.

They said since he is a tampa 2 type LB... They can see him falling into the 2nd round with some of the potential underclassmans entering the draft. They brought up Daryl Washington gong in the 2nd round and how Spoon would have most likely went to the Saints (last pick in the 1st round) if we didnt grab him. Rai
Is LB a big need? If so, yeah. Travis Lewis is a BEAST. He's better than Weatherspoon, imo. Would help give us an awesome LB Core for years to come.

Just think about it, Either Weatherspoon or Lewis would only be two down players. LBs are just not nearly as valuable as WRs, CBs, and OTs.....all significant needs for us imo. He would have been a first round pick if he declared in 2010, so barring any injuries etc. I can't see him falling to the 2nd.

They felt he had an below average year last year... The NFL draft committee gave him a 2nd/3rd round grade.
CHOCTHEFALCONFAN™
I really do think we should get another LB in the draft again but not with the first pick! - Anywhere from 2nd and beyond I'm cool with that!

I just don't think LB is a big enough need to warrant a 2nd round pick. Especially considering that Nicholas is not a bad player at all. I don't think him being replaced as a starter had much to do with his abilities. I just think the staff wants to show some respect to Peterson. As you could see in the Pitt game, Nicholas was still on the field quite a bit.

Don't get me wrong I'm happy with Spoon but I told yall theywouldn't bench Peterson that it would most likely be Nic. But yeah Nic had a good year last year for it to be his1st year starting. He definitely has what it takes to start. I'd say 4th rd or later for a LB'er.
Kennesaw77
LB is one of those positions you don't need to draft in round 1. There are 4 key spots and i think we all know what those are:QB: haha covered (go Matt Ryan)LT: semi- covered (Some want Baker to move to RT which isn't a bad idea)DE: semi- covered (this is a work in progress. Biermann is good but isn't an every snap guy which is why we need to see Sidbury do well this year. However, Abraham is pretty old so we need someone else at the position)CB: semi- covered (Another work in progress. Brian Williams is near the end. Dunta RObinson has one spot on lock down. Chris Owens is not a starter. Brent Grimes is not a starter. Dominique Franks has some major hype surrounding him and we will see if TD thinks he will ever be a starter.)
