Confirmed by Schefter: VJ gets 4 game suspension if traded

That is a reduction of his 3 game suspension from being placed by the Chargers having placed him on the roster exemption list. He is still serving a current 3 game suspension from the NFL and the other carried a 3 game suspension also. So he still is suspended for 4 games to start the year. So if he was traded this week he still would have 3 games left on his suspension.

Thing is that there was a team that had made a contract deal for VJ, but the demands from the Chargers were so high for the trade that it fell through. Terms were never disclosed but VJ's agent cried foul of the Chargers.

I think that is too much for a player that is going to miss 4 games. I think 3rd (2011) and 3rd (2012) conditionally if he plays so much then goto a 2nd (2012). Brandon Marshall went for two 2nd picks. VJ doesn't have the production of Brandon Marshall. I don't think we give up our draft picks. If we could get another 2nd or 3rd we will do it, but I don't see that happening.

Im not sure what player SD would want, however, in my opinion I would not want Jerious. They already have Darren Sproles who is very similar. However, I would be very interested in WR help. Michael Jenkins would definitely be of interest. Since VJ would be signed to a big deal having him, Roddy, and Jenkins here would be a bad idea financially.

Would love to have him. But with the current environment it makes it kind of hard when you think that he could only be available for 12 regular seasons game in 2010. A lockout could cause him to miss 2011. Then you have a high priced WR that has played 12 games for you prior to runing 29.

He and Matt would need to establish a chemistry too in order to make those 12 games count.

They want a 2nd (2011) & 3rd (2012) - that is what they wanted for him when VJ had worked out a deal with another team before the original deadline earlier this month.

Do I want Vincent Jackson, YES!!!!

Does the Falcons front office want Vincent Jackson, NO!!!

Keep in mind we have Michael Jenkins coming back from his shoulder injury soon too. They'll milk his return as a "team and gameplan changer" until the cows come home.

Reality is that it's just not gonna happen. We'll be lucky if TD and Coach Smith even ponder the idea.

Oh yeah I completely understand that. I was just saying IF they did want a player in the deal, Jenkins would really be the only one that made sense. From the Falcons side of things, I would insist Jenkins be included regardless of what picks we use just because of the financial implications.

As much as I want him here, I fear this is correct. This front office definitely does not seem interested in the least in bringing in a new WR. At least we can dream right?

i don't know if that's completely accurate, they did get in the hunt for Boldin. My understanding is that Boldin wanted to go to baltimore. i just don't think TD is going to give up another 2nd rounder much less the next two
