mrobinson3803
Pat has been very critical of the Falcons following this loss to Pitt. Saying we lost to a 3rd string QB and how Turner looked bad against one of the top defenses in the league. I read his mailbag on the Saints and he loves to give them credit for nothing. The Saints did not look all high and mighty last Thursday but he praises them for not allowing Peterson a touchdown. He says he went back and looked at the statistics and the grand scheme of things and Peterson didn't tear their defense apart. Peterson didn't but why give them credit for that but turn around and say the Falcons lost to a 3rd string QB. Dixson definitely didn't carve up our defense. The Steelers won because of their defense. I don't mind Pat being critical but do so across the board for the whole division. The Saints had their trouble on offense just like we did but I haven't seen him jump ship from them being the repeat champions. Just like a lot of the fans on this board. Statick
The Saints won a SB so you should know he's going to give them the benefit of the doubt. Most people shouldn't put too much stock in what media pundits have to say, whether it be good or bad. End the end, they know about as much as the average informed NFL fan. mrobinson3803
True but I still can't stand the biased opinion. The Falcons do not get the media attention some teams do so really Pat's blogs is where we get a lot of our reading from at least on a national standpoint. HouseofEuphoria
Pat Yastinkass covered the Panthers and lived in Charlotte for 9 years.I remember seeing him decked out from head to toe in Panthers gear. Now he lives in Tampon Bay where he wallows in misery with all the other Buc fans. But really, he's been riding the Aints' jock for the last three years.Sure, he threw the Falcons a few bones during the pre-season, but now we see he's back to normal. In the NFC South, if there's a bandwagon, you can bet your sweet *ss that Pat Y. will be driving it. The Falcons do not get the media attention some teams do so really Pat's blogs is where we get a lot of our reading from at least on a national standpoint. What's bias about a 3rd string qb completing 17-25 passes for over 200 yards? Not making excuses, but the saints were 2 field goals and a drop touchdown from the game being 27-9.The saints defense played lights out against a hof qb and one of leagues best rb's. Before you say something about them not having Sydney rice let me say that all the players are professionals and play football. Yes rice is great but if Colston missed the game I am confident that another receiver will step up and make catches. Matter of fact that's how lance Moore got noticed. No offense I understand there is no such thug as a statement game for the first game of the season, but this in all aspects was a game that was set up for a Falcons win. In order to be a good team you have to beat good teams. When the saints went to Philly and out 40 on the eagles defense, which isn't a bad defense, all we heard was they were without their starting qb, well there you go, we won a game that we were suppose to win. SaintRay
Columnists get paid to write things that stir emotion in fans. If they don't do this, they get fired.Let you team's results do the talking. Win a couple of games and watch how that love swings.
SYD
Here is what I emailed PatPat I really think you need to chill on your Matt Ryan hate. I know you were at the game but did you actually watch it?Ryan played pretty well, he moved the team when he was going no huddle, his one real mistake was actually an amazing play by one of the best defensive players in the league. 61% completion rate and 252 yards against one of the best defensive teams consistently in the NFL on the road. He get over 4000 yards this year if he does that against all the weaker defenses we play this year.If you honestly believe everything you said about how good the Falcons are going to be this year your knee jerk reactions after ONE hard fought down to the wire game seems really unjustified. It sucks we lost but we played a recent superbowl team on the road, 3rd string QB or not Dixon didn't beat us we held them to 9 points in regulation with no TD's. It was the Pitt defense and one blown run play that beat us, not a 3rd string QB.Ryan actually did look quite improved regardless of the outcome. He moved well in the pocket, Read blitzes from a great 3-4 defense, he got rid of the ball quickly and accurately despite Pitt shutting down the run game and despite the o-line breaking down quite often.Ryan looked to be in much better control of the game than years past, my only knock is early some passes sailed on him but even with that and at least 3 easy drops by Norwood and our WR's he still had 61% completion rate. Laugher
Does your logic about they're all professionals and anyone can step up apply to Dixon and the Steeler's QB situation, or just when it benefits your argument?Dixon is a professional he was given a gameplan and executed it. Let me ask you a question now, are the saints a bad team if they would have lost to a redman led falcons team last yr?

I do think we would have a better chance to win with Ryan in the game though.

bighurt
Dixon managed to make a few plays. Our defense played well, but we let some chances slip. Abe dropped INT, Owens dropped INT. 1 or both could have been a pick six.
Laugher
Bottom line it's winnable game, everyone kept saying the saints had all the breaks last yr, we did have breaks , but we also had our fair share of injuries to some of our top defensive talent. Others stepped up and played well enough to preserve wins, this game was a break game in my opinion b ause the steelers were without their starting qb. You loss the game, so down the road if this game comes back to haunt you then it would be considered a failed opportunity to get a W. You dont get many opportunity to play a team with a back up to a back upyou have to take advantage of those games if you want to call yourself an elite team
Dale4Saul2Red0
Peterson was actually destroying the Saints defense before the Vikings decided to get pass happy as **** in the 2nd half. Pat has no clue. If Minnesota would have kept giving AP the ball he would have had a huge game.Brad Childress F'd UP!And for the last time Dennis Dixon is NOT A 3RD STRING QB!!! Falcons_own_nfc_south
NO A'ints played against a QB which didn't have Training camp, mini-camp or any other camp. He just came 2 weeks back and MEDIA expects Favre to beat the team who has everyone healthy on their Roster.Again wE are 0-1 and they are 1-0.. ltstorm2
Pat Y seems to forget that the vikings were very depleted in the secondary vs the saints offense IN N.O. Oh well. Doesn't matter what he or anyone thinks in the long run.

Doesn't matter what he or anyone thinks in the long run.Congrats but when you have 7 defensive allstars rushing the QB, you can have mediocre CB's, because they don't have to cover long.Stop being hypocritical, you lost the game, a game which was yours for the taking, you can ***** and moan all you want, but at the end of the day we are 1-0 and you are 0-1.I know last year if we would have loss to the Eagles against Kolb we would still be hearing about it, also if we would have loss to a Redman led Falcon's we would be hearing about that too.We won both those game, and guess what they were games we were suppose to win.
