The ANSwer
Because it will not happen the rest of the season. 23 looks his direction...with Harry in the line up...Matt has learned his lesson of what happens when you go to the well too often. Did Matt throw a ball to Roddy in the overtime? No... Matt will give Roddy 15-18 looks, possibly. But, Roddy will not get 23 looks and only 13 catches (terrible) in another game this season. Folks, Roddy is not an elite WR...look at his catches...He has flashes, that is it. He is not consistent...He hardly makes his way back to the QB, like a Hines Ward. And he hardly ever has crisp catches with his hands. The majority have been and will continue to be off his pads.Matt will deliver the ball to Harry and Jerious. Will continue to look for Tony in the red zone. Roddy will not get 23 looks in one game for the rest of the season. Eric Weems, Harry, Jerious, Tony and Mike...Thoughts? muskokas finest ©
If we fall behind early in the game, 23 targets might be realistic. The Steelers game went to O.T.The Ravens game might be one where Roddy see a lot of work

Any why are people so obsessed with labeling players elite, not elite....who gives a flyin' rats ***. He produced and is a great WR for us. Peyton
Agree with you that it's not a good idea to throw the ball 23 times to one player.Disagree with you that anybody has learned a lesson and that it won't happen again.Strongly disagree with you that Roddy White isn't an elite WR. Nothing is going to change this person's mind, because the conclusions are not actually based on reality. So there's no real point in even having the conversation. You may also believe the earth is flat." I don't mean that in a rude way ... that's simply the only way I can see that someone could say he's not elite. Especially after the game he just had, in which he was pretty much unstoppable. He was about the only thing we had working well, and we targeted him on more than half our throws. They knew it was going to Roddy, and he still got over 100 yards. I wish some of those throws were deep, but that's not Roddy's fault. Even though it is questionable why he continues to hang out with Mike Vick.He made it to has second Pro Bowl because someone dropped out. The next one he goes to will be with Matt.Matt is turning into Jake Delhomme. A one trick pony. He needs to stop looking at Roddy so **** much. That is all. Spread it around a bit. That is all. Spread it around a bit. That is all.Dude it was one game. One freaking game. Last year he targeted Gonzo like crazy. Roddy got over 100 yards so he was obviously an open target. So Mattyice got intercepted once by one of the best safeties to play the game.Relax bud stop with the overreaction theater. The ANSwer
Roddy will not take us to the promise land. Bottomline.See what happens when we focus over half of our pass plays in his direction. As long as Matt focuses his passes to Roddy White, the Falcons will be a mediocre offense. He is no Fitz, Moss, Johnson (Andre)

Not as long as others on this board, but longer than most. I have been on this board for about 9 years. Decided to start talking...I know some of you would rather I did not create an account but Mr. Blank has graciously given me the opportunity. Welcome to America. See Roddy at practice lately? He BS'es, grab azzes and goes through most drills, not all, but most, definitely too many, at half speed.

BruceReville
Here is my question - was Roddy targeted 23 times because that is who Ryan only looked at or was he targeted that many times because no one else was open? I was unable to watch the game due to work. So which was it?

SkerFalcon8710
So out of those 23 targets has anyone taken into account the times ryan had to throw it away OVER roddys head.. Making it uncatchable.. Was he targeted yes was it a catchable pass.. No, take your **** blinders off, not like he dropped 10 balls that hit him in the chest.. This thread is a waste of space.. Sometimes you as a reciever just are not open and the qb throws it over you or in the dirt..

I AM 51
I agree with the OP. I do not believe Roddy White to be an elite reciever. 13 catches for a mere 111 yards. That is 8.5 yards a catch. That is an elite reciever?? Those are elite numbers for a tight end or a possesion reciever, but not so for your number one reciever. With thirteen catches should also come at least 200 yards and 3 TDs.

Did Matt throw to him when he was going deep? Or hit him on the slants? Hasn't White got the 2nd most Receptions and Yards and receiving TDs in the NFC since 2007? Only behind Fitzgerald? He had trash throwing to him and he still put up phenomenal yards during the '07 season. White is a heck of a receiver and if we didn't have him, Matt's rookie and sophomore season would be far worse. We'd still be picking in the top-12 if it weren't for him.
