falcon057
Cardinals CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie normally plays one side of the field. However, coach Mike Smith said the Falcons are preparing for the possibility that Rodgers-Cromartie will match up with a particular Falcons WR such as Roddy White. DUB
Matt is guaranteed to throw a pick since he does his best to force the ball to Roddy White regardless of coverage. Pick will come on 3rd down.

The ANSwer
It's both guys......3rd down its going to one of them, however his picks come when he's throwing to Roddy White. If R-C shadows Roddy, then Harry will have a huge day. I said HUGE day. Roddy will not get 23 looks in one game for the rest of the season. He may get 16-18, but not 23 for the rest of the season. Matt will get back to doing what he did as a rookie...that is throwing to Harry and Jerious. Yes, Matt had a golden opportunity to show superstar status with 1:40 left in the game. The kid won a game for us with 16 seconds left. He will get more opportunities and has learned about what happens in the NFL when you go to the well too often. He went to the White well 6-7 too many times. Roddy will not get 23 looks for the rest of the season.OUT
vel
I think it was more of Mularkey calling plays with Roddy as the hot read more than Ryan wanting to go to Roddy. Obviously he didn't mind because Roddy was catching them but MM only got HD83 3 catches and he was matched up on Harrison a lot. They blamed his lack of production on being jammed but to avoid a jam you send him in motion. Why do you think Desean Jackson is successful? They know how to use their players. DUB
You see recievers wide open and then the ball is tossed to a smothered Gonzo or White.........Matt's eyes are glued to these two guys. One pick on 3rd down ball being thrown to White or Gonzo.........guaranteed.

jstammer
How does HD not outrun James Harrison on a freaking slant route???Ummmmmmm .... do you not realize that the Falcons have only run 6 slant routes in the team's entire history? We so hate the way Jerry Rice and others torched our defense over the years with that route that we, out of respect for other defenses, refuse to return the favor. Just good ol' southern hospitality, that's all.In other words, don't expect us to make any sort of adjustment to slow the blitz. In the infamous words of former coach Dan Reeves, "Its about execution." It doesn't matter what the defense is doing, if you "execute" your play will work regardless.
