Durrty
MILWAUKEE -- Green Bay Packers running back Ryan Grant is out for the season with a right ankle injury, a significant blow to the team after he piled up 1,200 yards in each of the past two seasons. The Packers also placed former first-round pick Justin Harrell on injured reserve and signed running back Dimitri Nance and defensive end Jarius Wynn to fill their spots on the roster headed into Sunday's home game against Buffalo.Me either. HouseofEuphoria
hate to say it but i think we did ... I agree, and i'll tell you why.I think Nance has great upside in this league. I dont see much of a future for A. Smith as a running backin this league, at least not much more than a third down back or specialist. In two to three years i think Nance has a chance to become a "Turneresque" style #1 RB.Just about the same time we're gonna be needing one. russ7000
im trying to figure the logic in this why get rid of your star running back from preseason when you have questions of who will be assisting turner in the back field ...... HouseofEuphoria
Bret Farve Syndrome kicking in big time, eh, folks?I think it boils down to the choice our FO made to keep A. Smith instead of Nance. Now, he's been picked up a by a team we play this season that is in desperate need for RBs.There's a chance he may see some playing time against us.Extra motivation, anyone? All things considered, i wouldnt feel nervous at all about losing A. Smith to the Packers. Edited September 15, 2010 by HouseofEuphoria
delaigle
I think part of the reason for keeping Smith was:Turner, Snelling, Ovie, NanceNorwoodVSTurner, Snelling, OvieNorwood, Smith

hawkeye
A source said the Packers considered free agent Willie Parker, a former Pittsburgh Steelers three-time 1,000-yard rusher who was released by Washington this summer. The Packers also took Nance over their own practice squad player, James Johnson, who has only been with the team for a little over a week.Thompson viewed available veterans such as Parker, Justin Fargas, Kolby Smith and J.J. Arrington as poor fits for the Packers' zone running game and liked the physical running style of the powerful Nance. Also available was New England's Laurence Maroney, who was traded to the Denver Broncos Tuesday. Nance is considered a tough runner inside.
