MattM12
what i really hate about this board is this.. What do you want?Fire him, cut him, MR2 is trash, Flacco is better.I ask for a little perspective.Look around the league, at some of the trash playing QB. You really think Ryan sucks that bad? Do y'all Want "the Sanchize", who will genuinely ruin a superbowl caliber team? Think Flacco is excellent? he had a lesser passer rating, completion percentage and lost a fumble against a comparative D. (agreed, wouldn't mind having his OC every now and again.)Would you guys have been happy to have traded for Matt Cassel? Think Rivers is untouchable? See 2 picks by Rodgers sunday? Don't get my started on Big Ben's attitude. Some are only just worth mentioning (JC, Hasselbeck, Alex Smith, Garrard)congratulations, Flacco is good, do you want him, make a little madden trade?get a reality check people, and stop wasting everyone's time bitching and moaning. SYD
Yep,I don't know what game people were watching Sunday but Ryan did really well. He made one mistake and superman himself had to make an amazing sideline catch for it.Other then that he passed for 61% threw for almost 260 yards and called his own plays a good portion of the time as a 3rd year QB against one of the best defenses in the NFL on the road in the first game of the season.some of these crackhead babies are simply not cut out to be a real fan of a team, they start flipping out at the slightest thing and go on a rampage asking for everyone to be fired and traded. Statick
+1I just wish most of us would learn not to entertain said b*tchy, whiny postings, especially after a loss. It only clogs the boards with redundant discussions that go nowhere.People only say such BS to piss people off and some of you fall for the traps every f'n time. sourdiesal
I get your point but the problem is a lot of media members (and even some players) aren't comparing Ryan to Flacco and Sanchez. They have been comparing him to Brady and Manning. It's not his fault at all, like I said in the past, the hype machine hasn't done the kid any favors. If Ryan turns out to be Matt Hasselbeck and TD can build a stellar defense and solid running game I'll be happy. I think we need to seperate the rational (Ryan is solid with the potential to be pretty good) from the irrational (Ryan is Tom Brady Jr.)It's like when they compared Vince Carter to Jordan. Now everyone is looking at his career as a failure. If they would have just been honest with themselves and compared him to Mitch Richmond people would look at him in a totally different light. Not everyone has to be great. Some people are just meant to be good. The media is always in a rush to anoint someone. Edited September 14, 2010 by sourdiesal
5 to the squad
it amazes me every year people keep forgetting that teams aren't who they are till week 3 - 4 weeks 1 and 2 are basically tweeking weeks.

I like his ceiling, and am also a realist, he can improve! But not once did i look on sunday and think.. man he sucks.I really like the kid in a lot of ways, and think the negativity is a bit crazy for a third year guy

According to them, he was going to revolutionize the QB position. They started to vilify him before the dog thing. They'll put a player on a pedestal and cannot wait to knock them down all for ratings.
st4ngeI2
Matt Ryan is fine - Mularkey isn't letting him Blossom...the play-calling has to be more aggressive. Matty Ice is still the man..

Makes me more happy that we have.... Matt Ryan at QB for us. And some people keep trying to compare Matt to Mark when Mark doesn't even know how to manage the game yet. Matt Ryan work ethic tells me he is going to be a student of the game. Mark not so much. I like that example between Vince and Jordan. There can only one Jordan and one Vince. Just like the media was hyping up that Reggie Bust was going to be the next Barry Sanders and Gale Sayers. vabchbirdlover
Unfortunately, some people get too emotional after a loss and make hasty posts without putting much thought in, hence the 647 threads dealing with just a few topics, i.e. Matty just targeting 2 rcvrs, staring down this one, that one, poor play selections, RB defiencies, etc. Not trying to say ppl don't have the right to post their opinions/concerns, it's why does almost everyone (it seems), have to start their own threads to give their spin on the state of the Falcons? Why not have a big thread after each game - Win or loss, so everyone could chime in with their input. Trust me the same ppl with the sky is falling mentailty will be nowhere to be found, if the Falcons win/play well this Sunday.... Just my $02. Its actually pretty good. If he throws 61% and 260 in every game, I would be more than fine with that. That would be more than 4000 yards if he throws 260 every game. Yes, Ryan had some bad throws. He also made some very good throws, and didnt get a lot of protection. I think we all see the problem is play calling. When Matt goes to the no huddle and calls the play, we are so much better. We need more protection, and more no huddle. Ryan will be fine.

By the way everyone out there in Falcons land, to add to this post: Matt Ryan Had more yds than Joe Flacco as well. Same TD/INT ratio. Better completion percentage, better qb rating. His offensive coordinator opens it up more than Mularky (whom I don't like). They threw deep every three plays it seemed. If we did that, I'm sure we would have moved the ball better. Bottom line, I would take Dennis Dixon over Sanchez, any day, from what I saw last night. Flacco has ten times better receivers also, as a whole core, and Ryan's stats were still better. They got the win cause Jets have NO OFFENSE WHATSOEVER! Ryan is such a better QB than both of these guys. It was proven to me on Sunday. It's hard to win games as a QB when you average 5.5 yds per attempt a game. Sorry Mularky, you suck!
