Matt Ryan=MAVERICK
Hello Everyone,I'm from GA (decatur specifically), and I have been a falcons fan since childhood. After observing the last 3 years (via NFL Ticket b/c I'm in the military) I've come to some conclusions that I would like to hear your responses to. Here we go:WE DRAFT BASED ON *PERCEIVED* NECESSITY AND NOT TALENTI don't know what you guys think, but to me our draft picks REEK of Rich Mckay. While on Mckay I have always wondered how an individual gets fired from one position due to poor performance, and then gets promoted (to president). However in relation to my point, think Jamal Anderson. A DE that reportedly Mckay didnt even workout. Then theres Matty Ice....where do i begin? A guy whos scouting sheet read over and over again about Int's, being a gun slinger, and having questionable decision making. An (ACC) QB that really only had one exceptionally played game(against a tough college opponent=VA TECH). A guy who had to have started off his career with the most VANILLA schedule in falcons history! Then the second we have to face decent-elite level teams he comes up short, and sometimes BIG. I know I'm not the first to say this but is our franchise qb possibly a bust? My opinion is that Matty was drafted b/c we DESPERATELY needed a babyface to save this franchise in the eyes of the fans (off the field), not b/c of the talent and CONSISTENT ability he showed in college. I have to say that is a concern, and i think it woulda been a bit better for us to unfortunately whiff on a DT (dorsey) then to spend 72 mil on an QB who has proven himself to be average at best against decent-elite teams, and set ourselves back for possibly a DECADE. Only time will tell, and Lord knows i wish Ryan the best (i bought an authentic jersey w/ my measly military pay), but im worried. Not just based off of this Pitt game, but from the playoff game (Arizona) to present day....Mike Smith's conservative LIFESTYLE is hendering Mike Mularkey's true playcalling styleThis will be short..but everything about Coach Smith is conservative. Which isn't a neg until you start talking about his teams offensive playcalling. Typical Defensive Coach...think about it. He is the boss..do you really think he doesn't approach Mularkey with what HE thinks the gameplan should be week to week..and of course Mularkey will fall in line so that he can keep his job. Hypothetical I know, but very possible..those things happen in every type of workplace...WHAT DO YOU THINK FALCON FANS??!!!
The Falcon Jedi
I think you should never speak of such complaints here ever. The Falcons are Fine. It just takes time, it will be OK. Rise Up.

aPureTerror
Hello Everyone,WE DRAFT BASED ON *PERCEIVED* NECESSITY AND NOT TALENTI don't know what you guys think, but to me our draft picks REEK of Rich Mckay. While on Mckay I have always wondered how an individual gets fired from one position due to poor performance, and then gets promoted (to president). I think it's really important that you know what you're talking about before you start topics. The comments about McKay are silly. You've "always wondered" about something that didn't happen. Rich McKay has been team president since 2003-04. He didn't get "promoted". Not to mention the fact that being a team president and being the GM are entirely different jobs. Being a GM has to do with talent evaluation, signing free agents, releasing players, doing contracts etc... The team president deals with the business side of things (not personnel related), ticket sales, community relations, marketing, working on getting a new stadium, team finances... etc etc. So even if he was just the GM to start with and ended up only being the president, failing as a GM would have very little to do with being a good team president.
