Smitty47
You know it's a sign of a real fan to feel disappointed after a loss. The game could have went either way. We played a GREAT D that took out our ability to run the ball and gave us more D packages than we will see from any other team in our season. The AFC has dominant defenses and we just got to see one of the best. Also Dixon did great only because he did exactly what the coaches told him to do. He didn't try to win the game or anything he just did as he was told. Hats off to Pitt's coach for tailoring their playbook for him and not trying to make him win the game. Also he didn't run as much as you saw in preseason so obviously he was listening to the coach. We played some very commendable football out there in a very hostile house. Our number one receiver was incredible period and made plays. Granted we didn't score any TDs against that great D but Ryan did keep his composure with all those towels flying around. We didn't make but three penalties and 2 were in overtime. Also seriously everyone is ragging on our coaching staff. Realize they have a plan for things as well. Our head coach is defensive minded so he more than likely wants long clock consuming drives on Offense to rest the D and cool the opposing Offense. What may seem predictable to the average joe isn't always as seems. It didn't happen that much today but they were still able to play up to the potential they have. My only downside from today was if I'm not mistaken.....did we end the fourth quarter with a timeout at our disposal while Pitt had none left. I can't remember correctly but I felt like we could have tried for at minimum 2 deep passes to move the ball up the field and attempt to win the game with the 30 seconds or so we had left on the clock. I understand not wanting to have a take away when you can go to overtime and win it but the opposition had no time outs and I felt like if they did intercept they wouldn't be able to capitalize. Honestly our team played a great road game and we got to see a defense that others envy. We also took them down to the wire and I know our fans and theirs were both biting on nails throughout the game. Great game and I see us bouncing back with our home game and getting ready to face the Saints who didn't look to good Thursday. wartownfalcon
we did NOT play great D..that was a 3rd String QB...you should KILL even a 2nd string QB.

I have a feeling it was the other way round - Pittsburgh had 1 and we didn't have any. But I could be wrong on that.I thought the biggest concern was that Dixon seemed to have a lot more time to pick a pass (or run) than Ryan did. Granted, this might be due to Pittsburgh's excellent defence, but surely it also points to either weakness in our own O-Line or weakness in our own D-Line. Or both!Whilst there were a few times that Ryan could've thrown a better a pass, I think it's important to remember that a QB can only be as good as his offensive line. Ryan kept a cool head today, any problems with the offense are as a unit rather than individuals.
