Mr Pickle1
Dimitroff's drafting is starting to look less rosy. Baker got owned today. Peria did absolutely nothing, and has zero pop on the LOS. He didn't have pop his rookie year either. So far, look like two wasted 1st rounders. When you miss in the 1st round, it hurts. We saw the result of that today. We should have two good/great players where we have two run of the mill replacement level players. The bright side: Trey Lewis looks like a good player, and we know what we have in Babs, and I see Peters becoming a quality guy as well, so that takes the sting out of the Jerry pick. No bright side for Baker though...our Oline is horrible.
WCFalcon
Baker looked dreadful today. I screamed out "BUST!" when he let a guy go past him and sacked Matty Ice. Jerry is another case. I think he has potential, but remember he has some catching up to do. He got hurt in the season opener last year. Give him some time and I'm sure he's gonna do pretty well. atljbo
Baker made 2 mistakes and yall call him a bust ?That penalty was just terrible... Very bad penalty.... But on that Sack... Harrison got a really good jump because he knew our snap count.... Its nothing Baker could do about that... Thats on Matt Ryan to change it up. atlantaprodj
Baker had a bad game today... he was getting beat pretty bad today and Ryan avoided a few sacks from the left side. Not just the the two noticeable plays. However the entire OL got penetrated by the Steelers DL on rushing calls. Not a good day at all.I'm concerned our future opponents will find some game film weaknesses to expose... that or the Pittsburgh Dline just whipped our boys pretty darn good. Dharma Initiative
Baker is a bust as a LT for sure. However he would be an ideal RT.The guy can't protect like we need and has made costly holding penalities on a few occassions. Not to mention his health problems. Mr Pickle1
I cant believe Baker let that Scrub DE past him!It would be different if the guy was Defensive player of the year, or something!Baker got beat like a drum, not just on the sack. It would be different if it was 2 or 3 times, like Abe and Biermann beat the Steelers tackles(pass pro is weighted towards giving the Oline the advantage, so if you have a defensive player who beats his guy cleanly 3-4 times a game, that's a GREAT game from the defensive player). He was so outmatched by Anderson(who, while still a good player, is getting older, and simply not the caliber of pass rusher he was 2-3 years ago) it was pathetic. And here's the rub...those good edge rushers are WHY you draft a guy in the 1st round at tackle. You can get guys who get beat like that by good players in the 3rd and 4th round. ****, you can get UDFA like Clabo if you aren't that interested in stopping the opposing pass rusher. Sam Baker did a fine job as a replacement level tackle, but for the kind of protection you expect from expending a 1st round pick? No....**** no.Does he deserve to be on an NFL roster? Definitely. But so does Jam Anderson. Is he even coming close to the kind of play you expect from a 1st round tackle? Nope.

Left tackles only really get noticed when they make a mistake and folks don't realize how efficient they are for the rest of the game. That said, I said going into the season I'm still not sure how I feel about Baker and how good he is. Time will tell...
Mr Pickle1
Jerry stood out a few times today, not sure how you think he isn't helping. Just cause **** Stockton insn't calling out his name doesn't mean hes not doing anything.I saw one play where he put his head down and stacked the single block in front of him, causing a stop at the LOS. Other than that, I didn't see much in the way of pressure, and NOTHING against the run. My biggest memory of him is getting absolutely destroyed at the point of attack and washed 5 yards away from it by a Steeler's player. He doesn't have pop. This isn't me emotionally watching it. I'd already heard the game on the radio, and was going through and reviewing it, rewinding, looking at it in detail. He seemed to get a lot of play on the 3 man front, and he'd just sorta mill around. Maybe that's what the play calls for, but he can't get off blocks, and he can't bull rush. Suave G i B
Baker is gonna get Ryan hurt real bad if he can't step it upSammy boy is messing w/ Ryan's head.Hurried throws lead to EYEing the receiver. EYEing the receiver leads to INT's & tunnel vision.Tunnel vision cancels out pocket presence. No pocket presence leads to sacks, fumbles and injuries. This is what happened last year.Bounce Baker at get Svitek in there!!! Not only on the play u saw (contributing to someonegetting a stop at the LOS) ... Peria had a tackle for loss (blew up a run play).... I cant wait to see the guy by week 5. He and Corey Peters. Harrison was around him with ease FAR more than twice. Multiple times Harrison rolled into the back of Ryan after he'd released the ball, and even more often, he'd beat him soundly, but Ryan had already gotten the ball out superfast. If we'd attempted more 5 and 7 step drops and longer throws, Ryan would have been sacked 3-4 times just by Harrison. That's probably the reason we don't throw deep-Baker is garbage, and Mularkey realizes this.
mrobinson3803
Come on Baker was up against the what 2nd player in sacks last year give him a break. Peria did good for his first game back since week 3 or 4 last year.

I get what yall are saying but im telling you Harrison knew our snap count and dude got really good jumps... go look at the game again... I agree... I'm hoping Sam Baker fully step up also but what can he do if one of the best 3-4 OLB's are getting really good jumps because he knows the snap count... CaliSaint4Life
It usually takes DT's 3 years to figure out the NFL game. Many of the good DTs in the league sprouted out in their third year. It's just one of those positions.
aPureTerror
I wish there was a moderator that didn't allow idiotic threads like this. Jerry is returning from a torn ACL. WTF do you expect? Have you ever blown your knee out, rehabbed and tried to go play in a NFL game??? It's going to take some time.

We did not allow a touchdown until overtime and also held Medenhall to 70 yards before the overtime run and you call Peria Jerry a bust. Sam Baker made some mistakes but the best linemen in the game get beat by James Harrison and Lamar Woodley. Our line held up very well against the Steelers so stop being so dramatic. We lost a good game that could have went either way so shut up and lets get ready for Arizona.Oh yeah thanks for letting me vent!

The Steelers are known to annually have one the best defenses in the NFL every year. Their defense is better than 98% (if not more) of all the teams in the NFL.
