If a sports bar can be enemy territory ...

Recommended Posts

So, I'm picky. If I'm going to go to a sports bar (and there's really no other option anymore, as the stipend of a grad student and the Sunday Ticket cannot peacefully co-exist), I like to see my Falcons on the BIG screen, not those sad tiny things that make our team look like a bunch of ants scurrying around the field.

I know from experience in college up here that there is an excellent bar that gives the entire basement to Steelers fans every Sunday. There's about ten different TV's playing the same game ... a panorama of football, if you will.

Clearly, this is where I need to be. Clearly, I'm going to be the only Falcons fan in the basement.

And I say, bring it on. Got my jersey, cap, jewelry, and beer holder, and I'm ready to go.

Just, um, send out a search party if you don't hear from me after the game. :P

GO FALCONS!!!!!

Love it! ...but... Is Sunday ticket really more expensive than going to a sports bar 4 times a month?

Well, I'm going to two games in person as birthday and early Christmas presents, two are on national TV ... so that brings it down to 12 trips to the bar. And if I eat lunch beforehand and just nurse a beer or two while I'm there (all the bars up in Boston are packed, so you don't get anyone on your case for not ordering much), I should be good to go. Cost efficiency. ^_^

I'm near Albany, NY. The Steeler fans don't get their own room, but they get as many screens as the Giants...and more than the Jets here.

The good news is that no one in this area has any real hate for Falcons, so they don't get ugly with me like they do with each other :) As a bonus, some of the regular Pats fans are Ryan fans.
