A player lockout with any kind of missed time during the season would...

Recommended Posts

I think the NFL, Owners, and Players are all underestimating the impact of a lockout/missed season, with the fans... unlike baseball strike, and hockey lockout...which both are still recovering from years later, this will occur during one of the worst recession times in many many years..... People are losing their jobs, losing their homes, working multiple jobs to make ends meet, and their one saving grace is watching football on Sundays....I think their will be a bigger outlash from the fans than what they expect... people are struggling, and then to have no football because a bunch of billionaires and millionaires are squabbling over money will be a slap in the face to fans...... it took baseball, who was on top of the sports world, many years to recooperate over their strike... Hockey was at its all time peak in popularity when they had their lockout, neither time was their a recession and neither sport has fully recovered. The NFL and the players are on the verge of killing the golden goose....... That being said, teams like our Falcons, who have to work extremely hard and have to have potential contenders just to put people in the stands, will suffer the most with the potential backlash from fans. Its hard enough to put people in the dome, put a lockout or strike on top of that will set this franchise back for many years... Everyone talks about AB's deep pockets, but AB is not going to spend money if he isnt going to make money...thats just pure business sense.

My warning to both parties...... dont underestimate the fans..appreciate what u have going, get it worked out and lets move on.

Hopefully they will get it resolved. The new 18 game schedule is causing a lot of problems too, since all current contracts are based on 16 game schedules.

I'm all for an 18 game schedule, but that's just my selfishness because I love football so much.... what irritates me the most is that, the owners opted out a long time ago, and they have had plenty of time to start negotiating, and nothing at all is happening... I love football, I work my a$$ of during the week, family time is saturdays, and Sunday is my Falcon day... but, I will be willing to put my money somewhere else if these guys cant get it together.... I really feel like both sides' theory is that the fans will be there no matter what.... I think they are severely underestimating... season ticket sales are down for the 3rd straight year...and no matter what happens with the agreement, i guarantee its not going to drop the season ticket prices for the fans.... The Fans are being taken for granite, and as much as i Love my football, and my Falcons, i really hope if any time is missed, that the fans stand up and make them all hurt

The problem is there are a few owners (4 bandleaders) who don't like the sharing of profits and don't like the percentage that they give to the players.

They can't come to an agreement with the other owners - and until they do - they can't even propose anything to the players.

If Goodell doesn't man up and handle the owners like Tagliabue did - this will not get resolved.

Yes, some teams may actually even fold - teams in smaller markets especially.

Its very worrisome, and hard to imagine no Falcon Football, but if it did happen I will live... I will just change my football day to Saturday and enjoy college football, and family day to sunday. It would be nice, if fans actually had a representative to stand up for them and let them know what we thought.... the only thing the fans can do is hit them where it hurts.......... In the wallet
