Introducing the Superfan WEEKLY Cartoon Contest

Supes™

Recommended Posts

OK, folks, this is the start of something new and I think most of you will enjoy it. In the past, I've held the annual Superfan Cartoon Contest. Actually last season was the first time it was "official", and ROCK THROWER won with his idea for one of the Saints games. He won a framed print of the cartoon from me as well as an authentic Turner jersey (signed by #33 himself), from Flowery Branch. We're gonna do it again sometime this season, I'm thinking for the Monday Night Saints game Dec. 27th, and I will advise when the time is right for entries.

In the meanwhile, I'd like to introduce the WEEKLY cartoon contest. Yep, everyone gets a chance to suggest ideas for me or maybe even me and Gritblitzer to illustrate and bring to fruition. The winner will get his screen name on the cartoon and I will send him/her a poster print (13x19, NOT framed), of the cartoon signed by the artist. (That would be me or me and Gritz.) Here's how it works: Every Thursday (yes, I know today is Friday), I will start a thread looking for ideas for the for the next weeks SMACK cartoon. This thread is to take ideas for the Arizona Cardinals game. If you're interested and feeling clever, post your idea(s) in this thread. I will read and consider every one of them, although I will not be replying other than maybe an occasional "bump the thread" or to answer any questions. I will pay attention to comments and +1's, but that will not be my only guide as to how I choose the winner and no one will know who won until the cartoon comes out the following week. I will leave this thread open for 24-36 hrs., depending on the number of ideas coming in. There is no promise or guarantee I will choose anyone's idea at all and if that's the case, I'll just have to wing it as usual.:P

So, get busy and post your ideas in here for the Cards game! Everyone (except Gritz) is eligible to enter and win, even our international fans. Try to keep your ideas fairly simple without a ton of dialect. I prefer single frame cartoons, but if you need multiple frames to get your gag across, that's fine too. If more than one poster has the same idea, it'll be the first one posted that counts. You may post as many ideas as you can come up with.

Oh yeah, I've already completed cartoons for the first Saints game and the Bengals game as well, so I won't be accepting ideas for those. All the rest, however, will be wide open, one game at a time. Let's start with the Cards, shall we?:)

Good luck and may the best idea win!

Supes~

Edit: Your idea(s) do NOT have to include Falco. Falco is fine, but not critical!;)

Falco standing there and theres either one, or multiple smaller cardinals in the shape of a football. (Implying falco made them eat the football)There could be like feathers in the air, etc.

Falco's got a dirty grin, and a witty punchline. ^_^

As it is the Message board get Together next week, how about working that in somehow. Maybe Flaco hanging around with a bunch of message boarders preparing for the game or a bunch of message boarders wathcing flacko taking revenge on a Cardinals player.

Or, maybe you couldhave Cards DE jumping offside and flaco hiding behind the OL ready to meet out some justice with the Hicvk'ry, or having just done so - and a caption saying that stuff ain't working in our house, or something like that.

i'm wondering if the new board format is going to allow all of Supes great work to even be posted, i'd already had trouble seeing the last two, they seemed to be split up with posts in the middle. I'm guessing if this ignorant split screen is permanent, those pics will have to be seriously resized...

and for the record, I like boxxy's idea, and WB boxxy, haven't seen you around in quite a while

A giant Falco carrying the Hick'ry stick flanked by giant Biermann and Lofton chasing smaller Andersen, Fitz and Wells with their black strip torn to shreds.

(Caption or speech bubble ideas)

1) There's only one dirtybird the rest are cheap imitations

2) Birds Of Prey Win All Day

Hopefully some more ideas may come my way

You make an excellent point. If I have to make them so small that you could mistake them for postage stamps, none of this is gonna work. What in the world is going on???

Ok, you know the game 52 card pickup? How about a game of 53 Card pickup, with Falco tossing a few over his shoulder as he walks off the field, with the scoreboard in the background reading 35-3 Falcons. You could put the beat up Cardinal logo on the backs of the cards, with a few of the better known Cardinals face up.

Kurt Warner - oh, no, that's right.

Ok, Anquin Boldin - wait.

Allright, that other receiver.

I can see it - now - can I explain it???

Have the Falcons at the 30 yard line - down in the pre-snap position with Ryan behind - Have the Cards lined up on the other side -

Show #90 - Dockett - backing up from across the line where he has obviously "pre-jumped" the snap - with a look of terror and confusion on his face - eyes wide - and a huge Falco shadow looming across him - with just a bit of Falco showing carrying the Hick'ry Stick with a purpose.

Caption - There are NO Tells In Our House!

1. Falco standing tall over Darnell Dockett (in 3pt stance) with the big ol' hickry in his hands, tapping it against one of them, with the tag line

"Go on son, try and jump the count"

or words to that affect

2. Falco dressed in hunting gear, dragging away a sack with some talons sticking out, with a sign in the ground reading "Bird Hunting Season".

3. Western gear(stetsons, stubble and something to chew on ;) ), bird on bird lined up, hickry stick in falco's hand (or in a holster), twig in the cardinals mascots', falco speech: "This town ain't big enough for the both of us"

If we really take it to the Cardinals have Anderson in the locker room beat all to **** jersey torn black eye,etc with the game score on the monitor up in the corner behind him. Since Houston plays later you could have a cleaned up Leinart in any setting calling Anderson and saying something funny about his day.

http://nfl.fanhouse....rds-look-awful/

I kinda agree with Pout this has gotta have Kurt in it somewhere esp. after the poor showing of the Cards QB's in pre season and Kurts twitter response " OK, y'all... I am watching game... I am not coming back... and I would still appreciate your help! LOL, sorry guys, u know def of 'retire'?

The fellas in the "MNF" booth took note.

As did Warner to their comments.

Shout out 2 my guys Jaws, Coach G, and Mike Tirico thanks for the love! Sorry, but I am done, maybe I will join u in the booth sometime! LOL

Warner's ensuing post.

how do I export my video clips to quicktime? do I need pro?

Right now, looks like Cards need one ... under center.

So i'm thinking Kurt sitting back with Falco watching the game on a big screen, in a bar or @ home and Kurt wincing and a Big Falco grin @ 1. A Derick Anderson Sack by Biermann or 2. A Derick Anderson interception by Grimes.

I guess the big part of the cartoon would be Kurt and Falco, the action on the big screen would have to be smaller but the situation could be gotten across with dialog balloons from the announcers, and maybe even a "Help Kurt" from them.

OR, same setup but with Falco looming over Kurt tappin the Hick'ory stick in his hand as the phone rings beside them with Wisenhunt on the other end, we infer from body language that Kurt dare not answer because of Falco.

John Abraham(Biermann, Babs, Lofton, or whoever) soaring over the entire line of scrimmage about a foot away from DA Derek Anderson who is still under center but with the ball in his hands and his eyes as big as softballs. (maybe a urine stain on the front of Anderson's uniform?)

Something else Supes.....

I know most people want funny but I think a Pat Tillman tribute would be pretty fitting. I think it would honor a great man and really show the world what a classy organization we have become since Arthur took over the team.

I've often thought that the ONLY team jersey I could wear other than our Falcons is a Pat Tillman jersey.

Maybe Falco wearing a Tillman jersey saluting the flag. GB could give us a background of Tillman in uniform.

.......just an idea.

I'd call this a group idea because of others wanting Warner involved.

Night before the game......

3 screens......

1)Warner sleeping like a baby. (being spooned by Brenda no less)

2)Leinart laying in bed still fuming.

3)Anderson laying in bed sweating, shaking and terrified.

HAVE OUR DEFENSE ON THE FIELD AFTER A SACK AND SHOW BEERMAN DOING THE JARED ALLEN RODEO SACK CELEBRATION, AND THEN SHOW SPOON AND LOFTON DOING THE DIRTY BIRD DANCE TOGETHER WITH A CAPTION SAYING "RISE UP AS ONE" IN THE BACKGROUND. ALSO SHOW DEREK ANDERSON ON THE GROUND WITH A CAPTION SAYING "WHERE IN THE WORLD IS KURT?" ALSO SHOW FALCO ON THE SIDELINE WITH THE HICKRY STICK IN ONE HAND AND HIS OTHER ARM ON MIKE SMITH'S SHOULDER AND BOTH ARE GRINNING WITH A QUOTE SAYING "LOOKS LIKE THE OL' HICKRY STICK IS BACK" IN REGUARDS TO OUR DEFENSE PLAYING GREAT.

I THINK THIS IDEA WOULD BE A CLASSIC, BUT THERE MIGHT BE TOO MANY QUOTES. WHAT DO YOU THINK SUPES?
