Photofalcon
We have 5 receivers on the roster. One of them is Finneran (old and crippled), and Jenkins is already hurt. Do you think, given our personnel, that it's wise to only have 5 receivers, and yet keep 3 centers? We couldn't find a back up guard or tackle that could play center too? blackredfellow
I wont comment on whether or not it makes sense. I trust the F.O.I will, however, be watching the WRs very closely on Sunday. It will be interesting to see how often Weems and Fin are targeted, not just on the field, but thrown to. I think we are gonna see a healthy dose of Turner, Norwood, and Snelling, with Norwood also getting a few more screens than normal.

I hadn't thought of that, but they did say Turner would be more involved in the passing game. Maybe Norwood will stay healthy and we could see some 2 back formations in the passing game. delaigle
Look they are going to have to reduce the roster by 1 person next week after Babs finishes his suspension. 3 centers, I think you mean McClure, Hawley, Bruggeman. Hawley was hurt in the last preseason game and may not be ready for the steeler game> So it was go with McClure with NO backup or keep Bruggeman for one week. delaigle
I know the Concern about the WRs I agree, but they have only carried 5 WRs in 08 and 5 WRs in 09 but in 09 they did yooyoo Bergeron up and down when a WR was hurt during different game weeks Edited September 9, 2010 by delaigle
ukfalc
We have another 2WRs on the practice squad, so we can promote 1 to the 53 man roster if we need it.

FalconFanSince1970
Five is enough.Roddy - top 10 WRJenkins - 50 catches in last three seasons (ain't half as bad as many think)HD - should be formidable in the slotFin - still capable and definitely not crippledWeems - will be able to make some plays. STs demonWith those five guys, TonyG, Peele, Palmer, Turner, Wildwood, Smith, Mughelli and Snelling we will have thirteen passing options. There will only be 65 offensive snaps per game. We will run the ball on at least 28 of them. Ryan will throw to the backs on 8 of them, throw to the TEs on 10 of them and either scramble or take a sack on 3 of them. Roddy will get 9 of those so that leaves 7 snaps for the other four WRs plus the beastly WR everybody is yearning for (VJ, TJ, TO). Good luck.I don't see WR as a weakness like many here do. The Oline will have to provide protection and Ryan will have to go through his reads faster. I think that will happen and I believe the people obsessing on the WR position and on Mularkey will slowly fade away.

It's like it is your mission in life lately tobeyooch and moan at the Falcon's reluntance to sign an FA WR. Don't get me wrong,I too, believe that postion could have been upgraded, but I've got over it. Yousir, have taken it to another level. Shredman
on other teams it may be a problem, Falcons have 3 very very good pass catching TEs, so its not that big of a deal for us as we are run first anyway and have a great #1 WR ...
