Here I am pumped when I see my NFL Preview has come in the mail. I open it up to find us predicted to come in 3rd in the South while Carolina makes the playoffs AND wins a playoff game. They also had the Steelers as Super Bowl champs. WHAT? SI has gone mad.

Matt Moore always has poor preseasons, according to Panthers fans, if he plays up to the potential he showed last year, I could see a NFC East type season for the South with 3 teams making it. otherwise, the Panthers aren't going to get in there.

This is why I am glad that they are predictions. Here's mine, Falcons win Nfc South, Panthers will finish 3rd in the division. Steelers won't even make the playoffs, will finish 3rd behind the Ravens and Bengals.

I've learned over the years not to let this kind of thing bother me. Plus it always is fun when the Falcons prove them wrong. They are entitled to their opinions, no matter how we want to take it as fans.

You must take it with a grain of salt. I've realized over the years that these experts and their picks get paid to do the same things we do on these very boards and more than half of the time, we have better insight on how things could and will turn out. Everyone is entitled to their opinion when it comes down to it. Picking sleepers or picking underdogs or teams that could rise up is the norm in today's NFL because it could simply happen and that's the beauty.

In 2007 Miami won 1 game, only to come back in '08 and win 11 games and qualify for the playoffs. You just never know. When people pick anyone teams to win, it's all great and dandy, but when they don't hear something it's all disrespect and what not. It is what it is, don't listen to it.

Actually I said the Falcons will miss the playoffs and the golden boy QB's production will continues it's downward spiral........hmmmmmmmmmmmmm, money as always.

For what it's worth, the Panthers sure did finish their season with flying colors and finished strong. They won their last 4 out of 5 games and beat:

The Vikes 26-7

The Giants 41-9

and

the Saints 23-10 (Granted, the Saints rested.)

That can't go disregarded in the whole picture.

I think it is a definite possibility that Atlanta will be battling out with Carolina for the division instead of New Orleans. I was 50/50 in my pick with them against the Giants but I gave it to NY because they are at home.

The Matt Ryan cover was nice, other than that it's a pretty worthless issue, SI seemed to agree since they shipped 2 different issues this week.

I have to say, I read that preview in SI a couple of days ago, and I found it very interesting that the whole preview was about the defense, and that there was nothing about the offense.

And the person who wrote it did seem to have some knowledge of the Falcons, like they had watched some of the games last year. What was it that it said about the secondary? It was spot on regarding last year.
