LSU/Oregon to kick off in Arlington next year

Could be, but I think Oregon is a program who is a lot better off and a lot better coached right now than LSU is. LSU just has no kind of identity whatsoever, and unless they somehow manage to win 10 or 11 games this year, Miles is gone.

I don't think he'll have the Michigan job to run home to, either. Rich Rod is making progress up there, finally getting his players in there, and he has the full support of the university brass.

Good for him, dude always seemed good in my book. I thought it was really crappy the way the fans and alumni treated him in his first 2 years. The guy was working with a pro-style team for almost two years. Trying to get pro-style players into a spread offense is like a square peg in a round hole. It takes time for any coach to get their type of guys into the program.

I think with their continuous recruitment of incredibly speedy skill position players, they're going to be putting up some big numbers in a conference that is generally considered slow.

rich rod does not have the full support of the university brass. not even close man.. they want to fire his tail bigtime.. he has to win 8 to 9 games to keep his job and if he doesn't he is gone. the hatred for rich rod at michigan among the brass is very strong. talk to guys who actually have been on the board and dealt with the alumni and the donations to know how much hate there is for him at michigan.

Not what I've heard, but it really is not uncommon for boosters to be very impatient and quickly want action taken for a coach that doesn't bring immediate results. I can see it at Michigan with the boosters because Rich Rod is totally not a Michigan Man. Money talks. He knew nothing of the traditions of Michigan before he got there and he has brought the NCAA snooping around, which has never really been associated with the Michigan program.

Maybe they don't realize that Lloyd Carr picked a perfect time to retire. He literally left that program with the worst pool of talent it has probably ever had... and that talent had to adjust to a drastically different offensive mind.

I do think Michigan will make a splash in the Big 10 this year though. Rich Rod has a lot of his guys into the system and Denard Robinson looked straight up like Pat White. They moved the ball at will most of the time.

it's not just boosters man.. it's people within michigan's staff and administration who want his tail gone. they wanted his tail gone 6 months after him being hired.. rich rod came in and changed so much of the tradition when he got there and his personality was not a good mix with the michigan guys. the only reason he is still employed at this time is because as i was told they couldn't fire him because that's not the michigan way. this comes from solid sources who would know not some fan or some buddy who lives there. i loved it when someone said he is a good guy.. lol he is far from it.. i have a friend i worked with who moved down to georgia who worked with rich rod while he was at wvu in the athetic dept daily. i heard all about him before he even left wvu so it wasn't the sour grapes many wvu fans have now after he left them. there is a reason rich rod destroyed his documents before he left wvu and i will leave it at that.

This should be a good game.

I think that having kick off classic games like this and the Chick fa la game will start to become the norm. It gives the fans of college football the opportunity to see big match ups early in the season that would otherwise not happen on a regular basis.

i like these games as well as long as uga isn't in one of them.

Well perhaps that's where I have gotten that he has their full support... because they won't just outright fire him like that. I laugh too when I hear anyone say Rich Rod is a good guy. He's far from it. He's the kind of coach who does whatever it takes to win, but unlike a lot of the successful guys we associate that mentality with he gets shady in a hurry.

Who knows then. Michigan is certainly giving the perception that they fully support him. Les Miles doesn't run too drastically different an offense and he is probably the preferred choice of anyone associated with Michigan because of his history. Guess we'll see how it goes down.

Appreciate the inside view... I know a lot of fans are not happy with him at all, but above anything want to see results on the field.

you have me on im.. msg me when you get a chance.. :) yeah i respect michigan a lot more than i did in the past since i didn't know how they do their business and they are very good people who handle things in a respectful way. the stuff they are building up there with the money they have gotten in is quite impressive. you were dead on with lloyd carr and when he left. he did it at the best time and rich rod had soo many changes he had to make in order to run his offense. rich handled things the wrong way when he was first hired and if he had actually been less rich rod things would have been much easier for him and for the administration and close alumni. the only way to win them over is to win and win big this year. if he doesn't he is out and jim harbaugh is in.

Hopefully the continue to be the good games that they have been. NC/LSU, Alabama/VT, VT/Boise were all really entertaining games.

I was standing up at Taco Mac cheering for freaking North Carolina when they were driving toward the endzone, that's how into it I was.

Soooo much better than going through 2 and 3 weeks of horrible and unexciting games.

I'm hoping Jeremy Foley can nut up and get us into one of these games, against a Nebraska or USC or Notre Dame or Oregon, ANYONE that I'm not used to seeing us play, and I'll be one happy fan.

I can see it coming in the next couple of year. The Sugar Bowl will hold a kick off classic in the Super Dome. They will try to get a match up of either Texas, Oklahoma or Southern Cal vs UGA, UF, FSU or Miami.

If they get enough of these kick off classics going it would be like a mini Bowl season to start the year off.

why do you think foley would do this testaparo? what benefit for uf do you think foley sees in that type of national matchup? you guys are winning national titles and have a national brand. i don't see foley doing it..

i don't think that's very high on foley's priority list.. jmo.. btw expect things to change with our OOC scheduling with mcgarity. he has been clear you schedule for championships and cmr has been clear no more west coast trips.

I don't see him doing it either, I was just saying I hope he does.

It would be kinda cool to say we went to Arlington and played a non-conference game outside of the southeast in the last 24 years.

I'm just tired of seeing us play the same freaking teams over and over again while there are huge marquee games like FSU v. Oklahoma, Miami v. Ohio State, Alabama v. PSU. Yeah, we've played all those teams and beaten all of those teams in bowl games, but it'd be nice to see us put our money where our mouth is for one game during the regular season.

Is he looking to get rid of the Home and Home with Oregon in 2014 - 2015, I believe

no one knows what he is going to do about our current schedule. he may leave it the same or he may change it, but the home and home with louisville is stupid. it does nothing and i hate the oregon home and home with our sec schedule.

I don't mind the one with Louisville or Clemson, but I do think the Oregon one is stupid. Both teams have enough time to find someone else as an opponent to fill the void left by canceling it.
