ThePredator55
Baffled that the Falcons didn't try and improve our weak position at such a small price does not equal whiningIt's a missed opportunity.Nice try, though.

Hatch
There are ways to improve a team, you don't always need to go after a big name player.. Big name players doesn't always mean championships.

ThePredator55
Is that really your argument? Don't sign an obvious upgrade to one year deal for the league minimun because it's not a guaranteed championship?Okay...By the way, we're not bringing him in to be a primary target like Seattle, or most of the people Washington and Oakland bring in, Housh as a 2nd or 3rd receiver is a major upgrade to Finn/Weems/Jenkings Edited September 6, 2010 by ThePredator55
ThePredator55
And I don't think the one year deal for the league minimum is hitting home for you guys.
vabchbirdlover
And I don't think the one year deal for the league minimum is hitting home for you guys. While I see what you're saying, do we know the full details of this signing yet? Hesigned a 5 yr 40 mil, 15 garanteed prior to last season. So I'll guess after this yr,I've heard 7 mil gar, which The Hawks will pickup, less the 900,000 + THE Ravens arepaying for his svcs this yr. On paper this looks like a steal for the Ravens, butone has to wonder why the other teams that were alllegely interested in signinghim, Vikes, Bengals, etc. Why do he sign with the Ravens? I just think there's more tothis deal than meets the eye.

They were interested because they wanted to upgrade the position - that's pretty obvious. He signed with the Ravens probably because he felt they gave him the best opportunity to win now, and you can't really argue with that. The secondpart of your post is pure speculation. The statement about him going to bestopportunity to win equates to me, I going to a better financial situation. Yes, I knowthe Ravens are only on the hook for less than a million of the 7 mil he's guaranteed this yr, with the final 3 yrs not guaranteed, I just think there more to this deal thanwe know about. Bottom line: Maybe the Falcons FO know something we don't know.

Peyton
More speculation. But again, I guess that what we do here Yes it is speculation. But it's also speculation to assume the Falcons didn't try. The point I was making is that what ever team he was going to play with, the money was going to be the same.So...he could just take all of his offers in, and pick the best option he had. He's a good player, and for 855K, I wouldn't be surprised if half the teams in the league made him an offer. Photofalcon
Yes yes, thank God we didn't upgrade at a position of need. That logic worked so well at DB last year, why not try it at WR?

Bottom line to me is that if all it took for the Falconsto get him for th 2010 season was the league min., why did they pass? I just thinkthere's more to this deal than we know about yet.
