alexander1.9.71
As much as I wanted to see our Falcons address the #2 receiver position in the off season (i.e. draft, free agency, trade), it did not happen, and is not going to happen. Yes, there was Dez Bryant in the draft, and we passed, painfully. My rational on this subject is: This will be Jenks 7th year, I believe. He has made it through regime changes and personel changes. For whatever reason, the Falcons are not willing to give up on this first round bust. I think if Jenks was chosen in the third or fourth round, and was a consistent back up, we would be happy with his play, for the most part. Problem is, he was a first rounder...boo. I think he has dirt on the Falcons brass, and is willing to blackmail if his mediocre career with us, is cut short...knowing he would be surfing the bench with any other team. Don't think he is having a break out year in his SEVENTH SEASON. Does anyone truly believe TD is going to bring in the likes of a Vincent Jackson or TJ H? I would love to have VJ here, but that's not happening. TJ, can go wherever, just as long as it's not here. We do not need another slot. He is slower than Jenks and older. We need a long ball threat, period. He does have better hands than Jenks, but this not the solution. I would rather wait til next years draft. He is on the decline and has been. Jackson is priming, and would sure up our receiving core for at least the next 3-4 years. Not happening. This is our team, so everyone should just keep their fingers crossed. We are going to run the ball first, or should say, this is the #1 priority. Sure, there will be more passes thrown in Ryan's 3rd year, but we are going to rely on Turner. Hopefully he WILL return to form. If not...well, that's a scary situation. Time will tell. My thoughts on what the front office is thinking is this: We went 9-7 last year with a slew of injuries. If we could limit the injuries this year, keep our stars on the field, get our kicking game in check, improve our defense slightly, then theoretically, we should get that 10th or 11th win putting us in the playoffs. I think their sole goal this year is to get back into the playoffs and see what happens, cause anything can. Look at the Giants a couple of years ago. Pretty similar to what we are throwing up on offense this year. TD may, pick up a fourth receiver being that Meier went down. But this is not going to be a star. That will be addressed in next years draft. Much the same way the defense has for the past 2 drafts, I truly believe the offense will now be the focus for the next 2. I see another Marty Booker type coming in to help with rotations this year, and that's it. Ryan is a kid, their is plenty of time to build a dynasty. Running back should also be a focus as Turner is getting to the ill-fated age of 30. So let's stop wishing for a legit #2 this year, swallow the Jenkins pill for one more year, and hope Douglas and the unknowns can step it up this year, or should I say RISE UP. Thoughts? illest_will
sound good...hopefully with all the work we've put into defense, our D this year will play for a couple of our wins this year.

alexander1.9.71
Me too... We passed on Dez because he's overrated... and apparently injury prone...he had a high ankle sprain, and how in the **** do you know he's over-rated? by your logic then, turner is injury prone? same injury. hardly believe a sprained ankle is causing a lot of concern over in cowboys camp. they got rid of a very good receiver in in crayton to make a spot for dez, must see something there. alexander1.9.71
Agreed-wonder why they keep him around. God help us if Roddy White gets injured.it would be traumatic if white or gonzo went down. i feel if even douglas goes down, we are in a world of hurt. we are very thin and very vulnerable,if one thing goes wrong injury wise. have to watch every game this season with a knot in the stomach. Tech guy that actually has a little talent. He was never a problem. If it wasnt for the Jets getting Santonio Holmes he would at least be the slot guy. They use Cotchery and Brad Smith a bit more though He's a upgrade over Fin

I'm not a stat man so I'm not on the Roddy wagon like everyone else.me too. i think if we brought in vincent j roddy by next year would be moved into the two slot, at least on some plays. roddy has the ball thrown to him a lot so stats are a little inflated. don't get me wrong, i think he is a great receiver, but the stats and probowls don't mean anything. drops too many passes foir me to consider him elite. maybe that will be improved this year. scary to me that our 1 and 2 receiver's have issues holding onto the ball. maybe they should invest in those new nike gloces on tv...oh wait, we are a reebok team. oh well...hope for the best out of douglas.
