RedandBlack4Life!
University president Michael Adams made a rather cryptic comment on Saturday when asked if the NCAA inquiry at Georgia -- and thus WR A.J. Green's being withheld from Saturday's game -- is related to the investigations centered on improper agent contact at other schools."No, I don't think it's necessarily fair to say that," Adams said. "I wouldn't reveal any facts, but I think you don't know all they're looking at until it's over. If you just limit it to that or if you excluded that, you'd be making a mistake either way."So it sounds as if Adams is saying that the NCAA could be investigating Green for something other than Partygate, which Green has said he was not a part of. Adams also said he expected the situation to be resolved soon, and that it "doesn't appear to be" a serious matter at this point. All of which would seem to point to Green's return next week against South Carolina. Could it be that Green is in the same boat as Gamecocks CB Chris Culliver, who sat on Thursday as the NCAA questioned who paid for his insurance policy? On a related note, coach Mark Richt said that backup RB Washaun Ealey and projected starting WR Tavarres King, both suspended for run-ins with the law, will return on Saturday from one-game suspensions. Bulldog1950
pretty much the same thing that came out yesterday. If he didn't do anything wrong it is a shame he is missing games. This should have been resolved by now. Edited September 5, 2010 by Bulldog1950

youngbloodz
Rumors are going around AJ was selling game his game jersey on EBAY. Selling anything that has NCAA on it isn't very smart.

sdogg
Whatever it is NCAA, get your head out your arses and wrap this investigation up. With Ealey, King and AJ back, I feel very confident vs USC Edited September 6, 2010 by sdogg
Faithful Falcon
It was precautionary. Similar to what Butch Davis did. It's not necessarily about the Miami situation, but possibly something else. It was wise to sit him out of a meaningless game. If he played, and they decided to do something. We would probably have to forfeit every game that he had/has played in.

Billy Ocean
Hypothetically, could we say that we retroactively suspended AJ...So lets say that in the next few days the NCAA announces that AJ Green is subject to a 1 game suspension, could we say that we already suspended him the one game (UL-L) and then have him eligible for USCe? The NCAA can give something to the effect of a "time already served" penalty.
pr0d1gy
The NCAA is about to make college football not worth watching for me, just imho. I'm tired of the constant conflict over kids talking to agents, getting money from boosters, etc. All of it is stupid.

I'm tired of the constant conflict over kids talking to agents, getting money from boosters, etc. All of it is stupid. Its not the NCAA faught, its the stupid players. As much as I love AJ Green for the talent he is and the way he plays, if he did go to the party in Miama or is just in trouble for selling jerseys, I would disappointed. I'm not for sure what all is going on in his life, so its hard to completely blame him, but at the same time hes got half a year to play by the rules and then he can go pro and have millions. Again, not for sure all the circumstances, maybe he sold the jersey to a buddy, or maybe he was having a tough time making ends meet, who knows, obviously I couldn't knock a man for trying to survive but sometimes this stuff just seems ridiculous what these players do. With respect to AJ Green, he doesn't seem like the type of character to do something like this without a good reason.

AutoMax
He is human and has to eat. He does not have the millions yet. You would do the same. This is what I've been saying. The NCAA doesn't mind making millions off of these kids and I know that scholarships are worth a lot, but they still need to be able to eat and stuff. Threepac Daddy
the kids should get some kind of allowance, sense they cant work to get money and most kid's parents dont have the money to give to their kid.

Andrew
The school pays for his room and board, as well as an "allowance". Its not like he needs money to eat. These kids are to caught up in material things, the "bling" and all that mess. Why are these kids worried about that? They have fame and women lined up, why jeopardize yourself or the team over this stuff. With that being said, I'm not against a decent allowance, 20,000-30,000 a year for players. I think we forget these guys aren't like other students, they don't have time to take a part time job, they spend so much time preparing for football and then of course school, you can't expect these kids to be broke. Of course it would have to be the same for each school to avoid giving the bigger universities an upper hand on recruiting over smaller schools. I think 30,000 per player is reasonable for any school school, and the players should be able to get by very well with that considering most expenses are already covered for them. Its not like he needs money to eat. That "allowance" is like around $125 a week. It goes real quick. These players bring millions to the universities. They deserve to get paid. They have to do everything a regular student have to do plus more.

It's only fair to them. Some people will say they are getting paid because of the scholarship. But what they don't understand is that if you don't stay on campus they don't pay. And a lot of people hate staying on campus. And if you can't get an apartment on campus you have to stay in a dorm. And with that you have to share it with 3 other people. It sucks staying on campus. Plus it's a lot of rules.

We can't unfairly rate what players should be paid. But players should be paid since their employees of the University practically.
