Just got back from the game. What a great start to the season!

First it wasn't as hot as past years, but it was still hot as anything today. Second on defense we played as vanilla as we could and boy were we effective defensively. Aaron looked very good out there (he made a few mistakes, but you expect that with it being his first game). He took some chances running the ball he better not in the future (cmr got onto his case one time when he should have ran out of bounds). It was imo very good that aj green was not in the game for aaron. He has done a great job in practice getting the ball to AJ, but not having aj as an option forced him to look at other guys and he was very successful. Also props to blair walsh. He hit both of his field goals into the wind and there were times it was coming in pretty strong. The turnover ratio was +2 today and that is huge. We had 12 total forced turnovers last year and this year in one game we already have forced 3 (should have had a 4th, but that was dropped). We get back tavarres king, aj green, washuan ealey, and alec ogletree for the game in columbia. I will post more after i rewatch the game. GATA Dawg fans!!!

Just got back myself. Absolutely perfect weather today. Great game. I was really enthused with defense. Nice finally see us on the right side of the turnovers and make some tackles Loved hearing the crowd cheer when ctg ripped into Rambo for that blown play. Loved the fire and focus of the staff. Thought Murray looked really good for his 1st game. Made some bad decisions but that is expected. Very encouraged. Can't wait to get ealey, green, king, and ogletree back.

With that being said, I cannot wait to see us next week against USC. Well get a better feel for where we are really at. Should be a heck of a game!

Some quick hitters....

The NCAA sucks.

Murray looked good for game 1 (4 total TD's)

The D looked like the D we're used to seeing in Athens.

Grantham is one animated dude.

The right line judge was giving the Cajuns a minimum of +1 yd per spot. It was fairly blatant.

Murray needs to SLIDE.

It was nice to see the young guys step up and play well on offense.

Good start overall.

Agreed about the vanilla play calling with a few exceptions. Isn't it stunning what simply playing your assignments, playing the ball in the air, and tackling with good fundamental technique, combined with an aggressive scheme will do?

Exactly. I can't believe Richt took so long to realize that WM style, was not the style that UGA is accustomed too. Oh well, at least it looks like he found the right DC.

I think he knew what he needed to do a couple years ago. He just didn't make the change until after last season.

Grantham definitely seems like a great fit for UGA DC. He's bringing fire and brimstone attitude to the defense and lighting guys up when they make boneheaded mistakes. It's amazing how different the defense looks and plays in just one offseason. Really demonstrates what a lot of us have been talking about the problems being with Martinez in recent seasons.

I can't wait to see this team against better competition. You can only feel so good about stomping a team like ULL... you're supposed to stomp a team like that.

Well said. I'm just happy to see us demolish the teams we should. Had we looked as bad as UF did today, I would be worried. Ranked SEC teams should not struggle vs teams like Miami(Oh) and ULL.

i haven't been quiet in saying florida is overrated and they showed that today. no team should struggle like they did against miami of ohio who isn't even a good team on it's level competition. it was great to see us take care of business.. there were soooooo many positives about today and I am smiling ear to ear right now and will be through monday after today's game. We saw that Defense we have wanted and we saw that accountability when ctg went off on rambo for that screw up. we saw a beautiful pass by hutson (i was there and he threw that ball well before the wr made his break) and yes it's ull, but still a great for mason and for logan gray.

"It'a mental difference from last season to this", said linebacker Justin Houston, who had one of the sacks. It's hard to explain. You have to be out there".

I agree Sac. Did you read my question to you above? DP you think we get AJ back for SC? Why is it taking so long to decide if AJ was at the party or not?

biggest thing that excited me was when the D lost mental focus and gave up the TD CTG went OFF and would not let it go. The D responded by going back out there and proving dominance. That is the leadership this D has lacked. I am very glad we have it back

to me it's called accountability.. something we haven't had defensively for some time. how many times did guys like evans and prince miller miss their assignments. you never saw that on the sideline. that crap won't be tolerated at all. you are held accountable for your play (unlike our previous regime).

Yep, you and me both man... we were both saying that UF has tons of question marks and that their losses in leadership and contributors would not easily be replaced this season. UF fans didn't wanna hear it and now they see it first hand. There should have been no point in this game where it was conceivable that Miami could win the game, but it was all the way to the 4th quarter when UF finally got some offense going.

I still think that UF has potential to be pretty good this season, but they are not going to be in the SEC title game. I won't be surprised if they lose 5 games. I can even see Tennessee beating them this year.

Very very pleased with the Dawgs today. They exceeded my expectations. It's nice to see us hang 55 points on the board. Can't wait to get into conference play.

the ncaa is just going after soo many investigations they haven't made aj green a priority to get done.. they haven't even given uga any feedback so uga can't do anything.. the ncaa's incompetence is about to affect the sec east and who wins it if they don't get this done with aj. i can't say on aj for sc since uga won't play him because the ncaa won't give them a ruling.. it's the ncaa being the ncaa.

you would think they would want one of their biggest stars on the field.

Just curious. Can AJ take legal action if he's held out of games and he himself knows for a fact he has done nothing wrong? This whole process should never take this long IMO.

Nah man, I don't think so. He is subject to NCAA rules and regulations. They are investigating him and a bunch of other guys... we just have to wait and see what they say. No one has any legal grounds to fight it.

Makes you wonder where the NCAA was when everyone and their mom knew that Reggie Bush was on the take as a player. Why was he never held out of any games?

Because in typical NCAA fashion, the ones who come after the major violator are the ones who must suffer.

per michael adams, uga is using it's lawyers to get this settled.. they are trying to get this issue resolved as quickly as possible and per him it's not anything serious.. they just have to resolve it so he can play. there has been a rumor he sold a jersey on ebay.. just a rumor, but if this is correct then they are just waiting for the information that.. remember the ncaa talking to aj green about agent gate was not at all verified by anyone.. it was assumed by everyone.

murray looked better than stafford as a freshman. very accurate. can only remember 2 exceptions: the ball thrown to the db in the endzone and the early underthown ball to orson. everything else was touching a receiver's hands in a tight spot. for a first start the guy looked great. very nice jump stop pass to durham for td, touch pass to munzenmaier for td, and scamble/pass to logan in the endzone. i'm willing to overlook something less than 100% completion rate.

sure stinks of guilty of something for them to preemptively punish. hopefully that is all that it costs the team

I believe the situation is that the NCAA is asking every team involved to keep the players out of games until the investigation is completed. For all we know they could have already cleared AJ, but every team is still being asked to keep their players out.

I read that too. I hope this gets resolved by this week.

My crazy thinking is that CMR purposely left out AJ to make sure USC does not see what will hit them next week. Our best running back and top 2 receivers did not play. The USC staff will have some very long nights this coming week.
