DaMeatTroughsEgo
How do the waivers work for roster cut downs? Do guys get put on 24/48 hour(?) waivers as soon as they are released, or does it start at the deadline time (Saturday at 6)? If guys get put on waivers as soon as they are cut, I would assume it is in the best interest of the Falcons to wait as long as possible with guys that they might want on the practice squad because teams will be claiming the guys that are already cut before our guys clear waivers. Once a player with less than four seasons of league experience is cut or released from a team, the other 31 teams are given the chance to claim the player from the waiver wire. A team that claims a player from the waiver wire assumes the terms of the original contract agreed upon between the player and the team that released him.The order in which NFL teams are given the opportunity to claim a player from the waiver wire is determined by the previous season's final standings. The team with the worst record gets the first chance at claiming players off the waiver wire, then the team with the second worst gets the next chance, and so on up to the league's best team.During the NFL's off-season, teams have 10 days to claim a player from the waiver wire. From early July through December, the claiming period lasts for just 24 hours. If two or more teams claim a player, the team with the higher priority in the waiver system gets the player.Any player not claimed from the NFL's waiver wire then becomes an unrestricted free agent and is free to sign a new contract with any team. If a player is claimed and then released from his new team, he must reenter the waiver wire. Players with four or more seasons of league experience immediately become free agents if released from a team.http://www.ehow.com/list_6640183_nfl-waiver-rules.html
DaMeatTroughsEgo
Thanks Bruce. So I guess as soon as the guys are cut they are up for grabs. Probably best to hold off then.
