GREAT NEWS ABOUT THE STEELERS QB FOR GAME 1 IF THIS ACTUALLY HAPPENS!

Appearing on SportsCenter Friday afternoon, Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette predicted that Charlie Batch would be the Steelers' starter until Ben Roethlisberger returns from suspension.

"We don't know for sure yet," Bouchette acknowledged. "It's not a given." The longtime Steelers beat reporter suggested that Batch's experience would give him the edge, despite his minimal usage throughout camp and the preseason. It's possible the Steelers will hold an in-practice battle between Batch and Dennis Dixon next week, with the winner starting the opener. Dixon has much more talent. Batch would be an incredibly conservative pick.

IF THIS ACTUALLY HAPPENS WE WILL HAVE A FUN DAY ON DEFENSE :lol:

I don't know, but I do know that the last time the Falcons played the Steelers, Batch came into the game in the 3rd quarter and lit the Falcons up like a roman candle.

ok who cares the only thing that matters is the stat to the left.

Oct 22 @ ATL L 38-41 145.0 8 13 195 15.0 70 0 2

We won 41-38 in 2006.

Rather Batch over Dixon. We seem to fare poorly against guys who tuck and run.

Traditionally that is true, but I think the Falcons have gotten a bit quicker on defense.

When I watched Dixon the other night, I saw a guy who is going to throw the ball to the wrong team, it's just a matter time.

I think Batch gives them the best chance to win actually. I'd rather the Falcons played against Dixon.

The referees give the Steelers their best chance to win.........and, make no mistake they WILL do everything they can to help them. Don't forget..........they're one of the "annointed" franchises.

Some things NEVER change.
