Appearing on SportsCenter Friday afternoon, Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette predicted that Charlie Batch would be the Steelers' starter until Ben Roethlisberger returns from suspension.

"We don't know for sure yet," Bouchette acknowledged. "It's not a given." The longtime Steelers beat reporter suggested that Batch's experience would give him the edge, despite his minimal usage throughout camp and the preseason. It's possible the Steelers will hold an in-practice battle between Batch and Dennis Dixon next week, with the winner starting the opener. Dixon has much more talent. Batch would be an incredibly conservative pick.

I have to agree with Peyton. Batch is old, but he's obv got the experience and awareness. All Dixon is going to do is scamble. He is young and mobile, but that is about it.

I still subscribe to "any given Sunday". Can't afford to underestimate any opponent. Having Ben out is obviously a + for the Falcons, but they still have to play the game. PIT could win with Batch, or with Dixon. Gotta Rise Up!!

Yeah we won that game 41-38. Batch threw 13 passes 8 Comp. for 195 yds. I'm really not worried about the guy though. That game was back in 2006, and alot has changed since then.

The real problem is going to be the defense. We have just got to RISE UP!

Traditionally that is true, but I think the Falcons have gotten a bit quicker on defense.

When I watched Dixon the other night, I saw a guy who is going to throw the ball to the wrong team, it's just a matter time.

Poor batch is going to be toast by our blitz. Vangorder has finally opened up the defense and started calling linebacker blitzes on every third down. We got demon speed in the linebacker group

The referees give the Steelers their best chance to win.........and, make no mistake they WILL do everything they can to help them. Don't forget..........they're one of the "annointed" franchises.
