LADBABY
I appreciate somebody who watches the games. Thisboard sometimes makes you think that in order to poston here you are not allowed to attend or watch the games. We tend to drool over every kicker that may come availableand Bryant's career field goal percentage is higher thanthem all. No argument he needs to get himself squared awaybut that was better last night.
FalconPio
First off let me just say, I pull for the best out of every falcon player and I would never wish anything bad on anyone.Having said that.Does anyone wonder what would have happened if bryant had only made 1 of 3?They were all really short distance kicks.I wonder what TD would have done

Not worried about the extra point in MIA, he said why that happened. I am concerned that he is very poor from 40 yards and out, which has been our Achilles heel. With the game on the the line, I am very worried about Bryants leg. As worried as I was w Elam last season. I wanted to see them keep Haushka, and still think we made the wrong move.

One thing I've noticed with Smitty/TD is that if they are saying they are concerned about a certain position in the media, they DO address it. This is very different than our past regimes. apl2g
yea that excited me too. I really hope he pulls it together this season. He could be the difference between a 9-7 team and an 11-5 team.
DavyDmx
We really need him to regain his accuracy this year to pull out those 2-3 close games we will be in this year.

If you could do that from now on, that would be greeaat. And I'll make sure you get another copy of that memo...

ballfan
I'll be honest and say I was rooting for him to miss every kick. We had the chance to sign Graham Gano and blew it, still pissed about that.I don't get it. WE need Bryant to be MONEY this year. A reliable kicker is a MUST to make the playoffs and win thereafter. The difference between winning and losing is that close.
Optimus*Crimes
Yeah, we are requiring an "input validation code" on all posts going forward. You didn't get it... Too bad cause that was some funny ish... Most people know where I stand on Bryant. I like the guy. He's average. That means he's better than some, worse than some. If he NEEDS to kick from 40+ every game, our offense isn't doing what it should...

I must have not gotten that in the TPS Report.I think he was just saying we sometimes miss the players doing their job. THe DB that has his man covered does not have to make a spectacular play on the ball. We tend to highlight the botched plays. A sack, a fumble, a dropped pass.I didn't realize Wolf was the leading receiver with 55 yards for example. Quiet, nice game.

Last night he pipes 3 down the middle and itis Noon the next day before it gets a mention on theMB. The critics are silent. You can't miss things like 3 field goals in a boringgame like that where nothing else happened for the good guys. So finally he gets an attaboy, good, somebodywatched the game. That was our highlight reel for thenight, so how can it go unmentioned so long? It is o.k.to notice the good as well as the bad.

By the looks of the preseason we will need him for plenty of 36+ field goals. Thats my worry. People love his career %, but IMO the numbers of his most reason 1 or 2 NFL seasons are much more telling.I hope and pray that he has a great year, but wouldn't really be surprised if we have a new kicker by midseason. I'm not saying that we won't get stuck kicking some long FGs, I'm just stating that our offense is much more potent than the preseason has shown. 10 for 10 Xp, 70% from the field, and that includes 2 blocked and 1 51 yarder that he made. The year before, he was good 84.2% of the time, with a long of 49 yards. he doesn't have the biggest leg, but he does the job. I think we're all a bit too worried about him because of the ELAME situation from last year. Compare Bryant's stats to Vinatieri's...over the past 2 years, they are about the same... Vinatieri shot 77.8% last year and 80% the year before, with longs of 48 and 52, 17 of 18 XPs. Take away Bryant's 2 blocked kicks, and he beats Vinatieri... LADBABY
Buck and Kincade 680 were talking about Kris Brownbeing available. Buck says Bryant made like 3field goals last night, are you going to cut him?Kincade comes back and says "there is a better kickerout there"Buck says I don't run the team it's Thomas Dimitroffthat runs the team. If was up to me "Bryant wouldn'tbe the man!"Very timely dialogue.
ballfan
The gold standard is getting inside the 30 for a FG attempt. That makes the FG less than 48 yards. If Bryant can be 80% between 40 and 48 yards, he will be a major iomprovement over last year. Anything over 50 yards is just over 50 yards is gravy. He has to be near 100% on PAT and kicks inside 40 yards for this team to be a 12-14 win team. There were 2 blocked kicks, which are slipping my mind, but those could've been blown blocks, missed assignments, bad holds, etc. I truely don't remember watching those two and they may have been Bryants fault, but if he makes those, he's sitting at 90%... Rackers has been far more accurate throughout his career and Brown is now dealing with plantar fasciitis in his kicking foot."

My only point is if ST is 1/3 of the game, a reliable FG kicker is crital to winning close games. I blelieve Bryant can do it. I know the leadership understands better than I do. The Falcons put a lot of time into ST. I am confident it will be cleaned up this year.

After last year their radaris up pretty good on getting it right at kicker. For Bryant'spart he has responded so far.
