NEW DEVELOPMENT in Vincent Jackson saga

The San Diego Union-Tribune reports that the Chargers are now more open to the idea of trading Vincent Jackson, and are targeting the deadline of Saturday afternoon to complete a deal.

The Chargers have permitted only Seattle to speak to V-Jax to this point, but are reportedly considering opening the door to other interested teams. The Jackson camp is now saying its target contract is less than the initially reported $50 million over five years, with $30 million guaranteed. A trade would be a best case scenario for both sides. Chargers GM A.J. Smith could get a premium pick and a headache off the roster. V-Jax could play football.

chargers are only asking for a 2011 2nd and a 2012 3rd. he doesn't want that groundbreaking contract anymore, so i'll all on the VJ bandwagon. bring em home TD!!!

jackson and white would give us two probowl caliber WRs for the next 6-8 years.

those 3 weeks jackson is suspended he could be picking up the playbook getting ready to make a championship run with this offense.

SIDENOTE: Don't forget that TD did try to trade for anquan boldin this past offseason.

I have to admit, beginning of TC, I was 100% against it. After Meier went down and then watching our WRs this pre-season, I'm with you. I think it would be good for Roddy having someone of VJax's talent nipping at his heels. I like Jenks, but VJax is just on a whole other level. Jenks got paid and took a step back.

tj is declining... im not ure i would want him here... jackson is more physical and tough, and we know ryan loves to throw thw ball a bit high (kind of like jurt warner does) and TJ would be the perfect fit for that

TJ is not declining. He has just been in a horrible system for him in Seattle. He was actually the Bengals #1 WR above Ochocinco. Look the stats up. TJ is money when the ball is thrown to him. But he suffered in Greg Knapp's crap offense (remember those days?)

Vincent Jackson would be very nice. He probably is/could be that one key ingredient on offense that we are missing to take us to that next level. I dont really trust Houshmanzadeh anymore, and with the uncapped year/threat of a hold out I dont care who costs more. But a proven LARGE SIZED receiver is better than an unproven 2nd and 3rd round pick. And as we all know, it doesnt matter if its the 1st or 7th round, they could end up being a HoF'mer or a complete bust...cough Charles Rogers, cough Ted Ginn, Cough Troy Williamson...just sayin. But well see.

true, but you know jedi likes to talk without having any knowledge, here are their numbers in case anyone is doubting it

T.J.

Ochocinco

The funniest thing is he writes "check the stats" LOL why do people do that? they just look foolish

Ok you know what Captain Smartass - I dont care. We arent going to get either WR, so this whole discussion doesnt even matter. Both are going to cost a LOT to get, and we arent going to pay all that to get either of them. I like TJ the most. He has been in the wrong system. He excelled in Cincinnati, and I think he would excel here opposite Roddy.

Look up the stats the past few years. TJ had way more yards and receptions.

In 2008, Chad Ochocinco played the entire year with a dislocated shoulder if I remember correctly, he was injured I know for sure. In 2007, Chad Ochocinco beat him out in yardage, and Chad Ochocinco lead the league in receiving yards in 2006.

It is like in NE. Yeah, Welker gets more receptions and sometimes even more yards, but Randy Moss is the #1 option up there. TJ was more of an underneath guy, and so while Chad stretched the field and pulled off coverage, TJ would tear it up underneath.

The difference between TJ and Welker though is that TJ is a better red zone target. I personally wouldn't mind having TJ for the right price. He's better than Jenkins, no question. I'd prefer Vincent Jackson over him... well, CJax does have some character questions...

Either way, both would be huge upgrades.

It would be nice but I think we have our team (as of Saturday)
