Has anyone figure out why the Sports World is so fascinated with Atl Sports Attendance?

Braves,Falcons,Thrashers and Hawks. For some worthless reason the sports world is fascinated with our support of the local teams. They don't mention anything when the teams draw well. If that early weekday attendance is rather weak like it has been these first two games vs the Mets. All of the sudden it is "OMG Atl is horrible blah blah blah" crap.

Still to this day I don't know why those outside of Atlanta are so obsess with Atl Sports Attendance. It is some stuff they care so much about it.

I don't know. I have never been given an honest reason why. This doesn't happen with other sports cities. Only in Atlanta.

Exactly. Turner Field sits over 50,000 easily. So when we have 30,000 - 35,000 it's only 65% to 70% full when most MLB stadiums barely sit over 40,000. Then it would be 85% - 90% full.

And the only bigger stadiums are in LA and NY and Atlanta isn't near those sizes.

And the south has been one of the hardest hit areas by the economic downturn. Especially Alabama where there are plenty of Braves fans at and where a lot go to the games. Me and my mom are struggling right now just to put dinner on the table every night.

It's not only yet, but the past five years have been filled with letdowns and disappointments from them. Let them make the playoffs, win something, and see how the season turns out. The fans will start to return. Or pick up a big FA this offseason and let them see Liberty is serious about winning. This used to be Braves city, now the city is Falcons crazy also. I'll let the record and hopefully the playoffs do the talking. They'll be too busy focusing on why (insert large payroll team) didn't make it because of injuries.

I agree and I hope things get better for ya. It's kind of insensitive when you think about it, for the sports writers to constantly be bashing our area about low fan turnout without even thinking about the economy.

It's funny you mention this, I've been moving so I haven't been watching but I was able to listen to the game on the radio last night and it was the Mets broadcast. I mention this b/c it was so clear that the Mets announcers were trying to get their digs in and since we were kicking their *sses they tried to talk about our attendance.

Sure, it's nice to feel the energy of a packed house during a big game, but if my team wins, I don't give a ******** how many people are there to celebrate with me. The only number that matters to me is the amount of runs we put up on the team we are playing.

Oh, and these ******** at ESPN can kiss my ***. All you are trying to do is find one thing to dig at against the Braves this year. So **** you.

Michael Wilbon said Atlanta was the "worst sports city in America." He said this on PTI, in regards to low attendance for Hawks games. Nevermind that we were 14th in attendance, he said we're the worst.

After his faux pas on Skip/Chip Caray and TBS, I stopped watching PTI all together.
