ATLbound
I know the FO will give Matt Bryant his chance, but if he does fail a good solution would be to pick up the loser from the Texans. Either Kris Brown or Neil Rackers would suffice. I would be much more comfortable with either of those two. Don't get me wrong...I'm definitely pulling for Bryant to pull through but one of those should be available if not picked up by someone else.I know Kris Brown had his problems last year, but he has always been money previously and really it was just 2 major kicks that he missed which has gotten him in the doghouse. Otherwise he was fine. What do you guys think?
kibitzer
I think it's already been talked about tons on here. I think most are in favor of it. I think I personally don't know what to think... Just wondering what the coaches saw in Bryant, that wasn't there w/Hauschka or Lindholm. I mean, you can't say the guy is "hot garbage". I just don't know if TD is going to pull the trigger on anyone else at this point.

And I'm willing to wait until during the season to see what Bryant has.

NZFalcon
I can try, heck cant be worse than last year plus im young got plenty of kicking in me still...Bring me home TD
ATLbound
Kris Brown won't be in the conversation by then, though. The only team I can think of that would pick him up is Dallas...or Ravens possible, but they have Shayne Graham and I would prefer him over Bryant as well. This is of course if Bryant acts the way he has in the preseason.
FFFALCON
I think they will add or at least bring someone else in for a tryout. kinda get that from reading between the lines from Coach Smith's remarks.

ATLbound
Just say no to Kris Brown. Why? Because of one bad year and it really wasn't that bad. He missed 2 kicks that were very important. Other than that he was very reliable as he has been in previous years.
War Damn Eagle
Doesn't there have to be a problem for there to be a solution?**** NO, why do you think we have the phrase "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" ? It's because somebody (usually a democrat) tried to 'fix' it and phucked it up.

nolafan33
I wonder if Jon Carney retired? He's ancient and doesn't have a huge legs, but if the coach puts him out there he doesn't miss the kick. The Saints also had a kid they drafted in 08 by the name of Taylor Mehlhaff who I thought would be great for us. But he missed an extra point against SD and was cut, maybe the Falcons should look him up.http://www.nfl.com/players/taylormehlhaff/careerstats?id=MEH428790

The Falcon Jedi
3 games per season rely on the leg of a kicker. We missed the playoffs last year because of someone named Elam. If that decides our season again this season...
xxstealth
John Carney might be on the market this year....
kibitzer
John Carney might be on the market this year....After Elam imploded on us, I guess I'm just gun shy for any older vets, Morten included. (although I don't think Carney is that old, is he?) I don't see Carney being that much of an upgrade over Bryant. Like I said, you can't call Bryant "hot garbage". He did OK for us last year. I just want someone who's "clutch". How do you figure out if a kicker is "clutch" or not, and then determine also whether he IS clutch or WAS clutch? That whole position just seems like one big crapshoot to me.
