2 minutes ago - S Thomas DeCoud on how CB Dunta Robinson (hamstring) has looked since returning to practice: "He's looking real nice, making plays on the ball, making breaks on the ball. It's just a matter of a time when he gets back to being 100 percent." Falcons RapidReports

7 minutes ago - S Thomas DeCoud on the team's approach with Pittsburgh a week away: "We went into camp wanting to get to the season opener healthy. We're trying to keep the healthy guys healthy and (get) the guys who aren't as healthy back into playing shape." Falcons RapidReports

10 minutes ago - After watching the Miami film, S Thomas DeCoud said the Falcons look different on the field, and not from an X's and O's standpoint. "We have a different passion about it on defense this year," DeCoud said. "We can have something that's pretty special." Falcons RapidReports

22 minutes ago - WR Michael Jenkins is on track with the 4-6 weeks prognosis on the shoulder he injured in an intrasquad scrimmage Aug. 6. But coach Mike Smith wouldn't say whether Jenkins would be ready for the season opener against the Steelers. Falcons RapidReports

27 minutes ago - Coach Mike Smith on whether the Falcons are experimenting with defensive looks on third down: "We have to experiment because what we did last year definitely wasn't acceptable." Smith added that he's studied what other teams do to defend on third down.

Falcons RapidReports

39 minutes ago - Coach Mike Smith on QB Matt Ryan's accuracy issues through the preseason: "We don't want to be a 50-percent completion team. As we and Matt evaluated, we saw some things we need to work on, and I think we have those things corrected." Falcons RapidReports

44 minutes ago - Coach Mike Smith on how RB Michael Turner has looked after shedding extra weight in the offseason: "I think he's running faster than he ran last year. And he's running with more confidence." Falcons RapidReports

49 minutes ago - The Falcons held a walk-through Tuesday in their final practice before facing Jacksonville. "It was our Friday practice, and it was a little different in that we want to get some of the guys that didn't have many snaps last week prepared," coach Mike Smith said. Falcons RapidReports

53 minutes ago - DE Kroy Biermann (undisclosed injury) has missed practice the past three days. As coach Mike Smith has said, all injured players, unless noted otherwise, will be game-time decisions for the preseason finale against Jacksonville. Falcons RapidReports

Question that i do not know the answer to and maybe someone can help me out on this. I have heard of other quarterbacks in the league getting together in the off season with the wide recievers to work on their routes and timing.... Does anyone know if Matty Ice did this in the off season or not?????

this having to do with the accuracy issues posted above....

and IMO...

Kroy needs to be held out of the last preseason game if there is any possibility of a problem. The kid showed up in mid season form and as far as im concerned needs no more reps.....

Nothin' but love for ya Matty Ice, but I hope Smitty is on him about this. I dont think it will be as bad as pre-season, but his completion % has been falling, from average his rookie season to below average last year, and p1ss-poor this preseason.

So He's still not 100% yet.. Again, in NFL You are never 100%

13 minutes ago - Last season in Houston, CB Dunta Robinson was a matchup corner, defending the opposing team's top WR. Tuesday, DBs coach Tim Lewis said the Falcons haven't worked on Robinson being a matchup CB in Atlanta's defense. Falcons RapidReports

20 minutes ago - DBs coach Tim Lewis said CB Dunta Robinson has been lining up on the right side. "It's what he's always played," Lewis said. "Natural or not, I don't know. I guess you could develop a comfort level." Falcons RapidReports

Those two posts kind of contradict each other. Robinson either played RCB last year, or he matched up with the best receiver.

I heard someone on NFLN (not talking about ATL) say that the problem with TC hamstring injuries is that they tend to linger all season, because the only remedy is complete and total rest. They've been resting him thusfar, and I hope this isn't going to be an ongoing thing with DRob.

I think it kind of depends on the person. I remember when Isaac Bruce used to get hamstring injuries that would hinder him all season. Usually when I had him on my fantasy team.

But I tore my hamstring playing basketball pretty badly and I was back out there in 3 weeks and never had another problem with it.

I guess Isaac just isn't the world class athlete that I am.

this mite be better for us. Wasnt Grimes much better on the leftside than the right side?

No, they both prefer the right side. Dunta tried the left side in mini camp and didn't like it, so he is going to be on the right side. Grimes will be on the left.

Yeah, keep da Bierman on ice until the season opener. Would much rather see him starting at DE instead of Busteron.

Here, I excerpted:

Robinson tried the left side during the offseason workouts. He concluded that he liked the right side much better and requested a move back to the right side.

I'm slipping.. I never saw that article.

But yea.. I think we will shadow him on the #1 WR on certain man coverage plays... But yea... I'm ready for the season .

dunta played RCB his first 5 years in houston. they got a new DC last year that allowed him to be a match corner. he stated in one of his interviews when he first got here that he liked RCB more than LCB, but would be a match corner if he needed to be.

that's why i've been pushing for CO all along; grimes isn't so great on the left side.

Agreed! I definitely think Owens will be the other starter, with Grimes manning the nickel.

gonna be funny when u see wat happens.... u realize the only one out of thoes two that has even touched the nickel spot this year is owens.... so y would they put grimes who hasnt practiced that spot in the nickle when the games become real???? cmon now

Yeah, I want Owens to start, but Owens has been in the nickel spot in the PS. If Grimes starts struggling and/or gets beats a lot during the season, I could see Owens taking over the starting role.
