That was a fun game to attend - I must admit!

So, we go to the game Friday - and get there early so we don't have any trouble parking. There are plenty of tailgaters there and lots of Dolphin Fans. And us. All decked out in Falcon gear. Oh Yes we were!!

Got a little grief in the parking lot - but it was all good natured, so we just laughed and took it as we walked to the gate. About midway over in the crowd waiting for the gate to open, we spotted a couple of friendlies, so we worked our way over. We talked a little while to the other Falcon fan couple - nice people, by the way, and like us - they had seen no other Falcon fans lurking. It was looking like we were in for a rough night!

We get in the stadium - and find our seats and we are totally amazed at the location of the seats. My seat was directly on the 47 yard line to be exact and we were on the 3rd row - 4 seats in from the aisle - directly behind the Falcons bench. SW-EE-EE-EE-T!

However, it was hot as hades down there. We stayed around and watched the guys warming up - Tony G was directly in front of us practicing his routes and catching the ball. It was awesome to watch his routine so "up close and personal". When the heat got too overbearing - we walked up to the concourse, which is covered and has a great big fan to beat off the heat. It was comfortable up there. We had a drink and then went back down.

Finally, after a couple of hours - it was gametime and people were really filling the seats. Although it was far from a large crowd - it was nice for a preseason game. To our delight, more Falcon fans joined us. Directly in front of me was a young lady sporting a Falcons jersey - although she was accompanied by 3 loud mouthed Dolphin fans (lol). 2 rows back, there were 2 fans and then there was a sparse sprinkling throughout our section. While the numbers were few, at least it wasn't just us!

Of course, I did my share of cheering - and there was a pretty loud mouthed guy sitting a couple seats down (as loud as me - and that's a feat!), who said at one point - great, I would have to get a seat next to a Falcon encyclopedia (hey - he's the one who asked about the players). However, at the end of the game, he came up, shook my husbands hand - said that's a great wife you have - does she have a sister who is a Dolphin fan? Ha! Not likely in my family!

Some of my favorite moments with the crowd, in order:

1. About halfway through the first quarter, this guy was looking around asking for the "beer man" meaning the refreshment guy - just as our defense was on the field. I said - Hey - let's count to three and all shout really loud - BEER-MAN!!! and maybe they will come. So, we did! You are not going to believe this, I know - but I swear to you, just as we were shouting - the Beerman (Biermann) was getting a sack! I was hysterical and ecstatic - but in terrible danger! They were saying all around me - Don't listen to her!!! It was one of those moments you live for as a fan - and I'll never forget it - never! The timing - the perfect setup and the perfect execution - pure and unadulterated PERFECTION all around! Thanks Kroy - I'll love ya forever!

2. On our second drive, we had converted a 3rd down twice, but both times it was just a yard that we needed to convert. That Miami crowd is pretty good at knowing when to yell - and they were doing their part. Then came the pass to Tony that got broken up and we were suddenly 3rd and long - 11 or 12 yards. I was yelling - Throw it to Harry - It's Harry Douglas time!!! The wise-mouth fan in front of us says - What the H3ll is a Harry Douglas - and Voila! Ryan to Douglas - FIRST DOWN!!!! I said - THAT'S a Harry Douglas!!! Any more questions?

3. After Halftime - Freddy came by and we yelled to him. He was blowing us kisses - when the loudmouth started in on him - yelling stuff at him. Freddy looks him in the eye- points to himself - then his foot - then the other guy - then his behind! I cracked up!!! Freddy was saying he was going to kick his a... It was great!!!

Worst Moment -

1. Harry's leg was either cramping or stiffening on him - so he laid down behind the bench and the trainer was massaging his leg - you've seen the drill I'm sure - dozens of time. Some guy in our section was drunk and hollering at Harry - Hey Harry - does he make you feel good - and all kinds of obscene stuff - I mean really vulgar. Harry looked like he wanted to come over the wall, but he handled it well. I couldn't believe the guy- what a total jerkwad. I was embarrassed to even be in the same section as the guy. I felt horrible for Harry and for the trainer.

Anyway - I'm sure you guys have covered all of the basics of the game - but a few things I took note of that I didn't see in the video replay of the game - they didn't have the camera on the downfield.

1. They were all over Gonzo and White after 5 yards. I saw them pull them off their routes or bump them way after 5 yards NUMEROUS times. It was never called but it definitely had an affect on their route running.

2. One time - Roddy was knocked off his route - then for some reason - he stopped - then he saw the ball was in the air and started running again - but the ball was intercepted. That should have been interference because I am pretty sure he was past the 5 yards - although not more than 8 or 9 yards from scrimmage - but I still can't figure out why he stopped. Not sure he could have prevented the interception - but he sure would have met the guy there if he had just continued to hustle after being re-routed instead of stopping then running.

3. Just an observation on the sidelines. Shortly before the half, the drive before the interception - anyway - it was a really long drive during which he converted 3rd down at least 3 times - and then they had the 2 minute warning. Ryan threw it to Roddy who was getting mugged in the endzone - but who should have held on to it anyway but that's neither here nor there. That brought up 3rd and long - and Norwood got back about 8 yards on the next play. So here we were 4th and 5 on the 8 yard line - and he is rallying to go for it. They sent out the FG team.

Now, I don't know if it was just frustration that they didn't get in the endzone, frustration that they didn't go for it on 4th down or anger that their was no PI call on the throw to Roddy - but I have never seen Ryan that hot about anything. He slammed his helmet down - he was going at it down there. They finally got him calmed down - but on the very next throw - it was an interception. I have no idea what set him off - but he was as mad as I've ever seen him on the sidelines.

4. Hopefully it was nothing - but they were definitely testing Beirmann for a possible concussion after that big hit. Anyway, they were looking at Kroy on the sidelines and you could tell he was trying to convince them to let him back in the game. What surprised me was that they took his helmet away from him - wouldn't give it back until after the game - I was like  - did they think he was going back in without permission or something if he kept his helmet?

Anyway - I was happy for the win - and I had a great time. Just thought I would share some of the game day experience with you guys.

That had to have been a terrific time.

I would have loved to have been there for the "that's a harry Douglas" moment. Awesome.

And you must have made a heck of an impression if they asked if you had a sister...we(guys)only do that when we are in luv...

Sounds like you had a blast and you gave a great report, Thanks.

Did you and your husband ever attend any games in New England?

Yes, we have attended a few. I actually like that stadium and have been fortunate to sit around good natured fans for the most part.

Sounds like fun, thanks for the report. I'm glad Ryan was pissed because that means we think alike. I'm thinking to myself, "This is preseason, let the kid go... "

Yeah - I was thinking the same thing myself in fact!

Yeah - that was a great moment! I guess the guy must have a girlfriend who doesn't like football or something - poor fella!

FFS1970 said he saw your hubby on the fancam.

Thanks for the report and glad you had fun.

I saw that too, or atleast I thought that was him (from your pics).

Yeah - I looked at the recording - but didn't see it. I could see us in the stands a couple of times when the camera angle was right, though.

Nice read Tandy. We went down to the game in Miami in 2005. It was probably the best atmosphere I've been in for a live game. The Miami fans I was around were pretty fun to watch a game with.

I agree - for the most part - the fans were good natured and fun to be around. It was a fun atmosphere. They had a great halftime show too.

I believe my wife and I may have met you. In Nov 1998 at Foxboro. You and your husband were wearing jerseys with signatures all over them. We chatted in the parking lot, then afterwards near where the Falcons exited their locker rooms and got on the bus.

Oh my Goodness - I remember that!!! That was such a game - WE EMASCULATED THEM! Jamal was hot - Chris was hot - and if I recall right - it was sack, sack, sack, sack, sack, sack! That game was amazing - and we had a great time. It's such a small world - isn't it! I do remember meeting you guys!

Sounds like fun, Tandy. Reminds me of the many away games we used to go to. Best memories are the Aints games.

Sometimes, you have to remain "unseen" and "unheard" at those away games if you want to come away with your life - it's always great when you can have a good time and still be in enemy territory. Saints games are always like that for me too - I have always enjoyed those so much. I'm not sure what this year will be like though. I hope I can take it!

Sounds like a great time, Tandy. I was so sad to see TWO pre-season games in Florida just after I moved. :( Would have been at both for sure. Glad Miami treated you well!

I wish you had been there! We could have rocked the place together!!!

Is that not him on FanCam with the Ryan jersey on around 12:10 of the 4Q? I wasn't sure but it looked like him.

Hey - thanks for the heads up on where it was - I'm going to look now.

Will you be in Philly or Tampa this year? Already have those circled with tickets in hand! :)

I will be at the Tampa game unless something comes up with my family. Otherwise, I will be there.

I'm not sure about the Philly game yet. I'm trying to find out when our Physical Inventory is scheduled this year - I know it's usually that weekend. I may be in Ft Lauderdale and have to watch it from there.

We should definitely hook up at the Tampa game!

As do we. Was such a shock to see other Falcon fans in NE that we could never forget that. You and your hubby were genuine and very nice and yes that was a FANTASTIC game! :)
