hawkeye
I did this mock assuming we get a 6th for Ojinnaka and a 7th for Houston.Round 1DE Greg Romeus 6-5 268 PittPossesses the ultimate combination for a defensive end - strength, length and speed...can cover a lot of ground with his quickness and long arms...athletic enough to rush the edge and physical enough to bull rush..incredibly, he is still learning the game.Round 2OT Jason Pinkston 6-4 305 PittYou rarely heard Pinkston's name last year, and that's because he did such a good job protecting Bill Stull's blind side. Jason Pinkston, OT, Pittsburgh, has been selected to the Official Watch List for the 2010 Rotary Lombardi Award. Round 3WR Cecil Shorts 6-0 190 Mt. Union2009: Played in all 15 games at wide receiver ... had 100 receptions for 1,736 yards with 19 touchdowns ... also rushed for 206 yards and eight touchdowns on 34 carries ... Awarded Ed Sherman Award as OAC's top wide receiver.Round 4OLB Nate Irving 6-1 235 NC StateOff the ’08 film we had high hopes for Irving who displayed himself as a potential three down linebacker who easily covered the field sideline-to-sideline. He must prove he’s all the way back from the broken leg and punctured lung he suffered in the auto accident.Round 5CB Jalil Brown 6-1 205 ColoradoCB Jalil Brown possesses the top 2009 mark for passes defended among all Big 12 returnees. Brown had 66 tackles in 2009, good enough for sixth on the team. He also had two interceptions, and led the team with 15 passes broken up.Round 6RB Donald Buckram 5-10 200 UTEPFirst team All-Conference USA and UTEP's Offensive MVP ... shattered a UTEP single-season rushing record that had stood for over 60 years, running for 1,594 yards on 259 carries (6.2 avg.)Round 6FS/SS Mark LeGree 6-0 200 Appalachian St.In each of his two seasons as a starter, has been a finalist for the Buck Buchanan Award. Is active FCS leader with 17 career interceptions ... has led the Southern Conference in interceptions each of the past two seasons and led the nation in 2008. While he has gained notoriety for his ball-hawking skills, he excels in all aspects of the position, particularly as one of the team’s hardest hitters.Round 7DT Mike Blanc 6-3 290 AuburnA straight bull-rusher, Blanc has been quick to fall on fumbles and even quicker to raise his big arms to knock down passes at the line of scrimmage. Round 7PK Josh Jasper 5-10 170 LSUJasper is one of 30 players from across the country who have been named to the preseason watch list for the 2010 Lou Groza Award. The Lou Groza Award is given annually to the top placekicker in college football.
Smiler11
Is this mock 11.0 hawkeye? Lol. In all seriousness, great mock! Brown, Buckram and LeGree are three big time sleepers for next year! I love shorts, although he seems to be more of a slot guy? I also like the Romeus pick, although IMO OT is a bigger need than DE, and good DE's can be picked up in round 2. I'm not to sure Pinkston has the size for OT in the NFL, and I think there are better LB's available. Overall, probably the best mock I've seen to date!I also agree with you on picking up an extra 6th and 7th.
