I am pretty much sick of boise state's preseason pub. Their schedule is a joke and if they beat vt then they have one other meaningful game to play and they are undefeated. GO HOKIES!!

1,000% agree with you Sac...pulling for VaTech to spank that tail, and then I can pull for Boise the rest of the way...have their QB and Def on my College Fantasy Team :)

Its such a joke how boise is even being talking about as a NC contender. If they win against a overrated VT team, we wont stop earing about them the whole season.

For them to be NC contenders they need to play 3-4 solid OOC games away from home. Like 3 top 15 teams and a team ranked 20-35

I want Boise to win..then maybe they can face a big dog in a bowl and we get a real answer as to what they can do

I agree. Boise has beaten some good teams, but it would be real interesting to see them play a certified national title contender.

The media is gonna talk about these guys all season whether they beat VT or not. If they all want to put them on a pedestal, then I want to see them take on the SEC champs or even Ohio State on a huge stage for all the cookies.

Do I think they could hang in the SEC or even the Big Ten? No, I don't... but they don't have to, so it's pointless to argue over it. They can only play the teams on their schedule and they've been piling up W's for a while, even against some pretty good teams.

I wanna see them win and see what they can do if they get into the title game. I'm tired of hearing the media talk them up and I'm tired of hearing the fans call them undeserving and overrated. I'm ready to see it on the field if they win all their games.

No way man I want to see if Boise is really ready for something like a National Championship.

Could you imagine how awesome that would be for them? Boise State 2010 National Champions, it would rock the college football foundation.

Do they play the hardest schedule in the world? No, they don't, but now that they've built their reputation up, they're starting to play a lot better competition, taking their show on the road, not to mention the fact that they just accepted an invitation from a MUCH better conference. It's not their fault they were stuck in the WAC for all those years, but atleast they're doing something about it. At least they're playing the Oregons, the Oregon States, the Virginia Techs, and they're like 8-2 in bowl games since making the jump to the big boy level. I love teams like Boise, and I think Chris Peterson is a brilliant coach.

If they make it to the National Championship Game and get their doors blown off then they obviously didn't deserve it. But they've gone long enough with being undefeated and playing in Humanitarian Bowls and I think if they can go undefeated with this schedule, then I'd love to see them get their shot. The way they've risen through the ranks of college football is admirable and easy to root for. At least in my opinion.

If it's not the Gators then I want it to be Boise.

You mean "if it can't be the Gators.... or the Gamecocks, then I want it to be Boise"; right?

Sadly I don't think an SEC team will be playing for the national title this year. I don't see an undefeated or one-loss team coming out of the SEC... everyone in the conversation has question marks and could easily take some losses, including Bama (though their offense should definitely be killing folks).

It's going to be hard for anyone to beat Ohio State on their schedule... they are returning a pretty stout team. And I see the SEC contenders taking more losses than Nebraska, Oklahoma, or TCU this year.

Who knows though... the SEC is getting a lot more credit at the end of the season these days. A two-loss SEC champ could probably still be viewed as a better contender than a one-loss Ohio State... and I think most of the country would rather see an undefeated Boise State play an SEC team for the national title over Ohio State. But if Nebraska or Oklahoma are up there at the end, I don't think an SEC team jumps them.

It feels nice to get a little love and support from fans of other teams, even if it is only to shut the Boise State crowd up.

I think we can definitely win this game, even handily. To put this in perspective, in April of 2009 I had a really good feeling about the Alabama game and as the summer went and fall practice came I felt worse and worse about our chances until I was praying we didn't get blown out. In january I felt bad about this matchup and I've grown more and more confident and right now I think we're going to dominate them. Alabama, Georgia Tech, , Nebraska, Miami; they're all better teams than BSU and we played them all last season. I like Boise State but they will not impress me until they prove they can win with a BCS conference type schedule.

Ohio State has to go on the road to Iowa and Wisconsin this year...I think they lose both games which will take them out of the National Title game JMHO

the prob is; it is not so hard to get up and focus on 1 big bowl game and play really well. The issue is Teams in the SEC who have to do it multiple games. Sustaining that level of play is very difficult.

Is it that simple? getting up to play a major school...or maybe Boise is just a big fish in a little pond that needs to be move to a bigger pond...

I don't know man those will be very tough games for them... but Ohio State is returning a very strong team, most of it from the team that won the conference last year. And I'm not exactly sold on Iowa or Wisconsin this year. Both are pretty inconsistent teams.

If Ohio State loses both of those games they are definitely out of the title game picture, though.

This should be a really interesting year for college football. I don't see any clear cut favorites.

absolutely and that is the point. they play a crap schedule. they physically could not hold up to an sec schedule or even acc schedule.

I totally agree with you about sustaining that level of play in a conference like the SEC, but I have to disagree about Boise only having to get up for one big bowl game. They have a soft schedule, but they dominate it and they have beaten every good team they have played in recent years as well.

Jumping to the Mountain West will help them in future years, but jumping to the MWC isn't exactly jumping to the Pac-10. Boise State is probably out-recruiting everyone in the MWC already... and they have beaten TCU two years in a row. It will be interesting to see if Boise State gets an invitation from a bigger conference in another few years should they maintain their level of play in a conference that is much more competitive than the WAC.

I think they could hold up, they just wouldn't score as many points as they do. Most of their games would be close. I certainly think they could hang in the ACC. It's not as if football players just aren't any good by default if they play for Boise State. They have beaten some good teams that won their conference.
