I've asked that Sac or any mod delete my thread and just go with this one. When I first saw this I thought he might have been involved in a hit & run of a human. Glad to know it was just a parked car. Not that that makes things okay, since he left the scene and was driving with a suspended license. But still better than what I thought when I first read about him being arrested.

Yes sir, you are right that it is not as bad as it could be but still...what is the deal with everyone at UGA having a suspended license?!?! I just don't understand why these guys try to run after they do soemthing like this...you are always going to get caught. He is definitely going to miss some game-time for this. I think we will see a lot more of Carlton Thomas in the first game, and if anything happens to either him or King then Boo Malcome will see some PT as well.

The question is how much time do you give to a guy for leaving the scene of an accident while also driving on a suspended license. Maybe 2-4 games, I would think. Provided he has no prior incidences(sp) of getting himself in trouble.

We both know this is a completely different situation. He'll still get suspended for a couple games, def. against SC...but if he'd run over another human and driven away, he'd be off the team. And it wouldn't be just a stupid indiscretion, it would be a bloodbath on his character. This isn't good in any way, but his career isn't in jeaopardy, so I'd say it makes this more than just "better", it is extremely better.

I'm convinced some of our players can't count to 10, though. A parking services employee saw you do it, and could clearly see you drive away, and your tag number. What on Earth did you think was going to happen, Washaun?

Carlton Thomas, be ready. I'm glad King was impressive enough to win the job outright coming out of camp.

I agree with you 2-4 games. So we can sit him out of UL-Lafayette, Colorado, and Idaho. LOL!

Dude, only Meyer and Saban are allowed to do that. I wish we'd start doing it, though.

Reading that both charges are misdemeanors, it could just be 2 games. At the end of the day, he dumb enough to drive on a suspended license(might not even be a suspension), a poor enough driver to accidentally run into a parked car(this isn't even a crime, just pathetic/hilarious that a guy can't drive well enough to avoid a parked truck, no suspension for this), and then left the scene(and regardless of what the parking services guy told him, he's convinced me he's stupid enough that he probably didn't know you have to stay at an accident scene, OR he panicked and drove off...probably worth a game, at MOST 2). I could see this being a single game suspension, depending on how the facts come out, now that I've had time to collect my thoughts.

Was this extremely stupid? Yes. Could the argument be made that at each point, it wasn't a bad character decision to do any of the things he did, but rather simple stupidity and ignorance, combined with a youthful sense of invincibility and bad driving? I think so. This isn't a crime of violence, or about drugs. It's a couple of traffic misdemeanors. If you or I did this, when we were that age, Daddy might still tan our hides, but there would be no question of being suspended from our job, being fired, or having to sit out a week of school.

Given all this, can we even contemplate a 4 game suspension? That seems needlessly harsh. 3 games also sounds like too much. 2 sounds plausible, viewing this as strictly as possible. 1 seems appropriate to me...but the more I think, the less it will be allowed, because we play such a crappy opponent 1st game. If we were playing Okie State again, we could probably just suspend him for the opener.

4 games would be a bit harsh since the charges are only misdemeanors, he wasn't drinking and no one was hurt. I would say a 2 game suspension.

Well Richt will have the final say on what the punishment is and how it is handed down so if he thinks it's only a one game offense, then that's all he'll get. The thing that takes it to a different level is his failure to remain on site after being told to do so. Driving on the suspended license is a poor decision, but leaving the scene seems the biggest issue to me.

Yeah man I agree on a 2 game suspension at most. I believe this is his first offense. Richt needs to set up a freakin UGA football DMV! They need to issue the jerseys and check driver license expiration dates at the same time. Along with Driver safety courses, unacceptable sidewalk mopehead maneuvering, etc classes. I can hear Grantham now this is how you run a 3-4 and this is how you parallel park.

I don't know if he could in any way justify leaving the scene and I don't think there's a real chance that he didn't know he was required to remain at the scene until the police arrived. A question I have now, is "why exactly was his license suspended in thefirst place"? Was he an habbitual offender of traffic laws, did he have outstanding unpaid tickets, did he fail to carry insurance and get it suspended for that, or was it for something worse?

oh heck no.. 2 to 4 games? on most teams no suspension would be warranted. ealey will get 1 game max. if this was another team with another coach no suspension at all..

Its time for UGA to stop recruiting guys that cannot drive or get a license. What a moron. Im really getting sick of the lack of character(good) these guys have. Well the SC and Ark games just got a bit more difficult. Thanks a lot, you moron. angry.gif

Its time some of the players start to police their own. Start with some "code reds". I was in the USMC and they work, if you have knuckle heads that cant conform to the rules.

1 game suspension at most.. there is no way you suspend imo for more than that when we are talking 2 misdeamors here and no drinking.. you have some coaches such as in south carolina or tennessee where no suspension would even happen.

:lol: the above sdogg for 2 misdemeanors where on most teams he wouldn't get a suspension other than running steps and internal discipline. i am sorry, but the over the top reaction on something so minor in this situation is funny.

yea 2-4 games is really harsh, considering we don't even know the full details yet.

This is his first sniff of trouble so it shouldn't be any more than 2 and even 2 would be too harsh considering alcohol was NOT involved and all the details aren't known. Being blown out of proportion.

He did something stupid but there was no alcohol/drugs/violence involved. CMR just needs to tell him to save the hit and runs for saturdays. 1 game suspension IMO, we need him against SC.

Minor or major, Im just sick of hearing about our guys getting into trouble. Its a distraction we dont need.

I agree that it's annoying to hear about and it is definitely a distraction, but it's Ealey's first offense. You don't throw the proverbial book at a kid who hasn't been in trouble before.

CMR has kicked several off the team in the past 6 months and another just transferred before of a heavy suspension, what else do you think he should do?

I never said Easley should get the book thrown at him. Just saying that the players need to police their own. Peer pressure is a far more efficient tool, then what the bosses can do. Most don't want to let their team down. Time for the team(players) to get that knocked into these few knuckle heads we have.

sorry but it's a big difference between minor and major sdogg. no reason to overreact on something so small. again if it was at another school ealey wouldn't even be suspended it goes to show you how uga fans always want the hammer to be put down even though it's minor stuff. yeah i hate it as well, but we will always have players who do dumb stuff no matter the university so we should be used to it by now. Frankly even a 1 game suspension is too much in this situation considering what other team's players get away with and how they are not suspended a day and instead have to run for their punishment.

nothing against xnex, but i find it funny a south carolina fan would throw out 2 to 4 games suspension when he knows his joke of a disciplinarian coach in steve spurrier wouldn't even suspend ealey if he was a gamecock. i would do what steve would do if I was cmr and do internal discipline if the facts are what they are today..
