Derek Lee?

I've never seen a professional baseball player miss so many fastballs. It seems he strikes out every other at bat. And they are not on curves or change ups or sliders. Fastball right down the middle and he can't catch up to it. It is starting to piss me off at how many fastballs he misses and esp. to strike out on them.

Even if Lee came on and went 0 for 100, I would still be happy with the signing if we were using Lees playing time to let Glaus rest his knees. The fact that we have Glaus playing in the minors rite now is beyond dumb. Why not let the guy heel up for a month or so and the hopefully let him get back to form for the playoffs?

I agree here. If his knees/legs/everything else were really bothering him, he should have used at least 10 of those 15 days staying off his legs--not trying to act like he can play 3B. Then after 10 days or so, THEN try do some minors work.

Glaus hit a 3-run homerun for Gwinnett tonight but made 2 errors at 3B.

That experiment at 3B will fail miserably. I still believe he was better served sitting out for at least 10 of those days.

However, if he does manage to prove EVERYONE wrong and play a decent 3B, Cox could go with the following lineup to tryout one day.

Infante - LF

Heyward - RF

Prado - 2B

McCann - C

Lee - 1B

Glaus - 3B

Gonzo - SS

Cabrera/Ankiel - CF

Pitcher

Not saying I agree with it, but it could happen.

And Lee needs to move to 5th while Mac hits 4th until Lee gets it going right now. We need to be knocking in that Infante-Heyward-Prado trio more often.

Yeah I was shocked to hear that he was already playing down there. I thought he would get a 2 weeks rest without question. Lasted more like 5 days which couldn't have helped him out all that much because we tried it earlier this year without much success.

And right now Lee isn't getting the job done period. Put Alex Gonzalez 4th. He's our hottest hitter outside of Infante, Heyward and Prado. There shouldn't be no set lineups with this team. Just got with the hot bats in the RBI spots and right now Gonzalez is that guy.

You can't really make out a line-up this way. "Hot" and "cold" can change on a dime, with a pitcher, with a ballpark... guys play better if they have established roles.

But yeah, McCann should be hitting 4 and Lee 5, as I'd said when we first acquired Lee.

I have always thought Mac was the perfect #5 hitter.

In this line-up, he's better at the #4. Since the #4 often leads off innings, you don't necessarily want just the free-swinging masher there with the .310 OBP. You want your best OBP/SLG combo guy there. #4 should belong to your best overall hitter (not #3 as is commonly thought).

Until either the Braves sign someone better or until Heyward grows into the roll, that guy for the Braves right now is McCann.

I was talking about in the sense of a perfect lineup Mac is the perfect #5 hitter. Or at least I think so. I think having a lefty 3rd, righty 4th with Mac (lefty) 5th with the right hitters is a awesome lineup.

That would be nice... but I'm assuming that Medlen won't be available until August 2011. And even then, they may want to ease him back by pitching him in the bullpen.

:(

OK fine, we can trade Lowe to the Bankees for Vasquez back? He did good here, and sucked it up as a Bankee.
