Toronto_Dirty_Bird
LinkHunter in Atlanta writes: Any Chance the falcons make a move for Vincent Jackson? He has some slight character issues but would make the falcons a championship contender immediately. Pat Yasinskas: From what I hear, the Falcons are going to stick with what they’ve got at wide receiver. They’re expecting Michael Jenkins back for the start of the season and he, Roddy White and Harry Douglas will be the top three receivers. Eric Weems and Brian Finneran also are pretty safe bets to be on the roster. The loss of rookie Kerry Meier to injury hurts because the Falcons liked him as a receiver and special-teams player. But the fact is Meier wasn’t going to be anything more than a No. 5 receiver as a rookie. Maybe this is why Smith said they aren't going to go after anyone else
MagnusXXIII
By start of the season ... I think he means early in the season. Most accounts have him in game 2.
blackredfellow
I'm hoping for HD and Weems to be a Welker/Edelman type combo. They are both small and fast. I think Special Weems can be ok if he gets a little more playing time.

There are a couple of QB's in the league that make receivers look better than they are...brady/manning/brees.

Statick
I think most some of us already knew he'd be back at least for game 2 at the least. If he is indeed coming back for Game 1, that's great. Some people are acting as out as if Jenks was gone for the entire season. The way he's been vilified as a player, to see folks fret about him being hurt is pretty amusing to behold. For all the bad talking of done about Jenkins, I know that he CAN produce and I'm hoping that he can just be more conistent (a la 2008). I keep looking at the roster and the schedule and seeing us playing---Panthers: Stewart/Williams then the secondary, Saints: Returning SB champs, Bucs: Year two for Freeman and the three-headed run game. Not to mention the DL and secondary. Thats six games alone. These thtee teams blitz alot and run on US a whole lot.The interior line doesn't look all that good to me. The p-rush is uncertain, LB's and safeties are good though. Haven't seen our new corner yet. The offense is going to have to be less conservative. Let Ryan run loose. Take off the leash. Y'know? Excited about Jenkins. Hasn't this guy been with us since 2002-2003? Who cares. He wouldn't be #1 in arena football, or a # 2 on any top 15 team in the NFL. Put douglas in the 2 or sign Vincent Jackson. Over it.

Y'know?2 things man1. it's only preseason. 2. those teams you listed have to play US too. a fit 245 lb michael turner, 3x 1,000 yd wideout roddy white, 3x 50 catch WR michael jenkins, future HOFer tony G, plus ovie and HD. our offense may not look like we want it to right now, but we definitely aren't anything to play with. while our D isn't a top 10 D IMO, they're automatically going to be better than last years. DR isn't revis or anything close, but he's definitely going to be one of the best corners we've had here in a LOOOONG time.let's see how our squad looks when the real bullets start flying and then we can figure out if we need to worry/purchasing superbowl champion shirts. we didn't look like world beaters in the 08 preseason either. But look here, Jenkins sucks. Whenever I see his name as a feel better post I only feel better from my giggling. Seriously. The DL...*sigh*. Its not just preseason games man. I'm actually looking at our schedule. Its even tougher than the Saint's schedule...I'm not just looking at team names, but the rosters of the teams. falconsd56
Jenkins does not suck, you dont catch 50 balls a year every year sucking. He is just widly inconsitent..... he will make a jaw dropping catch in a key situation.....then turn around and drop an easy one right in his hands. But he is a complete and utter beast in the run game which is huge for us, Ryan also likes him, and has gone to him in some key spots. As someone pointed out we are better with him then with out him.
