Kroy Biermann - Not the Only Positive from last night

Anyone else notice Trey Lewis? ...

Seemed like he was the most impactful DT last night ... and always around the ball.

Lewis had a very good game, the run defense got a little stronger when he was in the game. Also Beerman made some plays but he was a liability on the run. The very 1st one that holding was called on he knifed inside and the RB went outside of him for big yards. Thank goodness for the holding call. He got pushed around on run plays most of the night and so did Peterson, that TD run he got pushed back and the RB went right by him, he and beerman both hurt the run defense big time. Niether should start against running teams or be in on 1st & 2nd downs anyway. this just what I said in a post a couple of days ago, "getting to the QB means nothing when the other teams runs the ball down your throat" and still on 3rd and long you don't get to the QB. Beerman's sack was definately a "coverage sack", the play was a quick slant and the WR was covered so Brady pumped and waited and looked to the otherside the o-line thought the ball was gone and letup too soon.

He also had 2 TFL's...so there goes that theory on his lack of run support.

TFL does not indicate good run support, one of them was where he chased the rb on the other side of the field. None of his tackles on run plays were made when the play came right at him. I like Krot I am just pointing out he would be a liability in run defense if a starter and it would also wear him down to where his pass rush is not as effective. His best value to this team is a pass rusher not an every down player what's wrong with that.

Man, I love your honesty to just say it like it is instead of base your analysis on who you are analyzing.

Beirmann does have a ways to go in run defense, but I absolutely love the kid and on passing downs I want him on the field for his big play ability. To get into passing situations, you have to be able to stop the run though, and we have other players better suited for that.

Bierman is a pass-rushing specialist, much like Abraham is. He is really too small to stand up against the Run. He should only be brought in on 3rd downs.

Trey Lewis did look good and somewhat

aggressive and not in proper lanes at

times. That left holes where he should

have been. He doesn't get pushed around

at all but he can take himself out of

the hole gambling. He is trying to be

an impact player and will get coached up a

good bit this week. Lot's of tape on him

which is new.

As to Biermann, I dare say that most sacks

have an element of "coverage" to them. We

have had no coverage and last night was not

much different. It was a sack.

yea the Beirman sack was clearly a coverage sack but i will take a sack any way we can get it right about now! The Falcons haven't had good coverage in the past so a coverage sack is a great thing right now

yea, a coverage sack is great, because when we get Robinson in the back field with Williams and Grimes they'll be more of those sacks when the season starts, that's just a preview.

well u cant get better in the run game until u play when the bullets are flying... thats wat they did with jerry, he was getting pushed around at first, but started getting better, he just needs rep, he always came in on 3rd downs

Mike Smith on DT Trey Lewis’ performance on Thursday:

“Trey was very disruptive. He was one of the bright spots on the defensive side of the ball. He was very aggressive, and he was knocking the line of scrimmage back. That is what we have got to get out of our tackle play to have the kind of success we want to have on defense.”

TrAy Louis will be cut, what do You expecT caoch to say anyway???? Caoch wont say bad things in medias.

Sarcasm off//

I LOVE what Smitty is saying about Trey Lewis and believe the coach 100%. This coaching staff does not lie to us about players. This is a big deal that we have a big, 315lb explosive DT in our rotation.

Our DL is a deep unit, and I am very excited about seeing it this year in action, especially if we can get Jerry back.

Read that from Smitty today. I thought WOW, somebody Really IS noticing Trey. I know I'm biased back here in KS. We've been able to catch both preseason games on local tv here. I also watched the replay on the NFL Network.

Its hard to watch preseason games at times. Its not about the score. Gotta try & see what the team is working on, & who the coaches have in at thoses times. Its not always about one player, good or bad, on every play. So, again I say, I know I'm bias, but I have seen a quickness & push from Trey that I like this preseason. Its the same kinda stuff we've seen around here when he was in college, & yes, even high school. Its just interesting to see him doing the same kinda things at each level.

Yes, he showed a significant unexpected spark his rookie season. And no, we haven't seen much of it before now. But I think he's Back. It seems the speed of the NFL game has slowed in his 4th season, his health is back, his quickness & strength are better than even. I think we are starting to see the Real TREY LEWIS... & I Like it.

Go Trey!!!
