Drathdon
I know I'll get heat here (bye bye rep), but realistically, the game I watched might as well have been 7-6 at the half (missed FG, Personal Foul crap). For an early preseason game against a playoff team, it's not going to send me into hysterics. Sure, there are many a thing I am concerned with (run defense, deep passing attack), but I'm sure to temper that in the light of what this game is and what it means.Seems quite a few here are self-destructing on the boards. Maybe I forgot what it was like to see that after a loss (I usually avoid the boards after a loss), but for preseason, I like discussing the possible roster and how these games help define that. Is there any chance cooler heads will prevail?I would not expect Coach to do anything new to give tape to our regular-season opponents. I only expect him to get a look at players to determine roster spots after the 1st team gets a few snaps to get up to game-speed. Why risk deep throws and new looks? Minimize any possible contact on the QB by limiting the amount of time he has the ball. Save the heroics for when it counts.
ltstorm2
All 31 other NFL teams don't seem to be worried about showing A...."SINGULAR" deep ball. I'm going to catch a lot of heat for this comment, but Joe Flacco is light years ahead of Ryan in that aspect. I'm not understanding what we're trying to hide. A-TowN.-
Good post man I thought this was going to be a negative thread. I agree with what you said. Right now coach is trying to weed out his Roster. That doesn't mean someone isn't getting chewed out though lol.

Don't you know that if you don't see this type of panic and mayhem after a preseason game, it's a good sign that you're not on this site. The self-destructing is typical after any loss here on the boards. There are quite a few things that are concerning from the first quarter & a half of this game (when our starters were in), and those should be discussed here. But to get rational discussion on this board, you usually have to wait until 2 days after the game, otherwise it's all we weren't perfect so we suck and fire this guy, that guy, and everybody else within eyesight. The biggest thing to me is still 3rd down defense. How many times did our first team fail to seal the deal after playing good D on 1st & 2nd downs? The hope I have there is that we didn't have starting CB's in the game & our defenses are pure vanilla (although they should be able to stop simple running plays). On offense, it appears to me that we are running some deeper routes, but they are not open. Ryan is checking down, sometimes to the 3rd/4th option before making a pass. Not sure if he's hesitant to pull the trigger (which why should he be in preseason) or the receivers (Roddy) are not getting open. My suspision is on the latter, but without being at the game or seeing coaches film, it's really hard to tell. We can always take what we see on TV & say it's Mularky's fault, but that's making a judgment call with only 20% of the evidence.

I am thankful I couldn't go to the game or I may have had one of those "that guy" moments. nahhhhh
citsalp
Yes are you sure you watched the same game?In the pre-game TD himself said he wanted to showcase the team he has built to his former team. I'm not freaking out, but if your looking for silver linings in thunder clouds I see your point. I don't care if it was 7 on 7, flag football, two hand touch, a practice scrimmage, or a pre-season game. We got OWNED. We have no play makers, without Norwood. Finn is our best #2 WR?, with Jenkins hurt. I could cover Finn...as long as there was no contact my knees would collapse. LOLI'm firm Falcon fan I don't post much...but trying to sugarcoat that performance is tuff to swallow.
alphaville
Falcons looked soft after their easy win last week.Expect Coach Smith to lay into the defense, and we'll get a much better effort next week. Lots of tape to show them and drive home the fundamentals.
