Gonzalez said this might be his last season

Recommended Posts

Personally, Im cool with that. Whatever he wants to do. Tony G. is a great asset, but I think Ryan and the offense can function OK without him (see 2008). I dont really have an opinion one way or another with this.

Hopefully, he meant after we win the Super Bowl it will be his last season.

I agree with you there, but that's not his fault. It's Matt Ryan's. I think he'll grow out of it this season.

I know that. Every young QB's dream is to have a big, solid, sure-handed TE to dump the ball off to. WHen all else fails, throw to the TE - he will usually be open, or covered by a LB. Vick learned that real quick. Vick never bothered learning to read defenses because he always knew Alge would be open somewhere. I just dont want to see Ryan fall into that same trap in his development - which I know he wont, he's smarter than that, but still. I want to see the entire offense operate and flow as was designed, meaning get all the WRs involved every play, not just the TE.

Me too. I doubt that Matt Ryan will let having Gonzales hinder him any further. I also think that not having Douglas last year along with the running game struggling early, played into that quite a bit. I'm more concerned with Mularkey holding him and the offense back than anything else.

True Jedi, but you have to understand that Ryan has been great at finding the open receiver. Against KC during the second series, Gonzalez was that guy. He won't skip on a pass to someone open just because he wants to spread the ball evenly amongst the other WRs, he's about being accurate, consistent with his decision-making, and getting the first down. We played some tough defenses last year that shadowed White and Jenkins pretty well...the absence of Douglas hurt, so who was left? #88.

But now, with the offense back in tact, we should see the ball spread out a lot more than last year.

I hope to see a more balanced offense this season with most everyone healthy.
